I’m Getting An Error Code ce-41807-0 When Trying to Start Some Games

Wondering how to fix this, I cant launch some of my games without getting an error, same thing happens when I delete the games and attempt to reinstall. I’m using an external hard drive to store my games. I searched around and all I could find was another person who had this happen to them, they just simply formatted their hard drive no problem. As this only happens with some of my games and not all of them, I was wondering if there was another way around this bug other than deleting almost 1 TB of games that I would just have to reinstall.

Can’t figure out why you keep seeing a CE-41807-0 error code on your PS4 or PS5?

One of the best features of the Playstation is support for external hard drives. Since Playstation consoles come with limited storage, it is nice for Sony to add an option for their users to expand their storage using external drives.

However, you’ll have to ensure that the drive you’re getting is compatible with the Playstation, especially for the PS5, which only takes external drives with USB 3.1 support.

While the external storage feature on Playstation consoles is excellent, it is not perfect, and users may encounter a few errors from here and there.

One of the most common problems with external storage on the Playstation is the error code CE-41807-0. This error usually occurs when you try to launch, update, or delete a game installed on an external drive.

If you are here, you’re probably experiencing the same thing.

To help you out, we’ve decided to make a guide for fixing the CE-41807-0 error code on the PS4 or PS5.

1. Restart Your Playstation.

Before making any changes to your PS4 or PS5, the first thing that you should do is restart its software to reload its system resources. Some of your console’s system files may have encountered a temporary error while in use, which causes the CE-41807-0 error code.

For Playstation 4 owners, here’s what you need to do to restart your console:

  1. On your controller, press and hold the PS button until the Quick Menu shows up on the screen.
  2. After that, go to the Power tab.
  3. Finally, click on Restart PS4 to reboot your device.

If you are using a Playstation 5, you can restart it by doing the following:

  1. First, find the PS button on your DualSense controller.
  2. Now, hold down the PS button to access the Quick Menu
  3. Lastly, highlight the Restart PS5 option and press the O or X button on your controller to continue with the process.
Restart PS5

After restarting your Playstation, try accessing your games to check if the CE-41807-0 error code would still occur.

2. Make Sure Your External Drive Is Connected.

One of the main reasons you encounter the CE-41807-0 error code on your PS4 or PS5 is if your external drive is not connected properly. Before accessing the games installed on your drive, ensure that the USB cable is plugged in correctly on the port.

You should also check the USB cable if it has any damages. One way to tell if you have a defective USB cable is if your external drive is not getting any power.

After ensuring that your external drive is connected properly, go back to the game you want to manage and see if the CE-41807-0 error code would still occur.

3. Re-Login Your PSN Account.

If you encounter the CE-41807-0 error code while installing a game on your PS4 or PS5, it’s possible that your user data got corrupted. When this happens, you could experience problems accessing features connected to your PSN account.

To fix this, you’ll need to sign out of your current session and log back in after a few minutes to reset your account data.

For Playstation 4 owners, you can sign out your PSN account by doing the following:

  1. First, go to the Settings page of your PS4
  2. Next, access the Account Management tab.

If you are using a PS5, here’s what you need to do to sign out your PSN account:

  2. After that, navigate to User Accounts > Other
  3. Finally, click the Sign Out button.

After 5 to 10 minutes, log back into your PSN account and try downloading another game to check if the CE-41807-0 error code would still occur.

4. Make Sure You Have Enough Store Space.

Another reason for the CE-41807-0 error code on your PS4 or PS5 is when you are running out of storage space. When you try to install a game and see this error, it may indicate that there’s no more space left to store your game.

If this is the case, try to free up some storage on your Playstation by deleting unused or finished games.

Here’s what you need to do to uninstall games on your Playstation:

  1. First, browse your main screen and identify the games you no longer play.
  2. After that, highlight the game using your controller and press the Options button.
  3. Lastly, select the Delete option to remove the game from your Playstation

Once done, go back to the PS Store and try downloading a game to check if the problem is solved.

5. Update Your Playstation.

A software update might also help to fix the CE-41807-0 error code on your PS4 or PS5. Sony releases timely updates on the Playstation, which contains bug fixes and optimizations to improve performance.

If you are using a Playstation 4, follow the guide below to update your console’s system:

  1. First, go to the Settings tab of your Playstation 4
  2. Now, access the System Software Update tab.

  1. Lastly, choose Update Now and click the Accept button.

For PS5 users, see the steps below to update your system:

  1. On your PS5, go to the Settings and access the Systems tab.
  2. After that, open the System Software tab and select System Software Update and Settings
  3. Finally, click on Update System Software and choose Update Using Internet

After installing the update on your Playstation, try accessing or downloading a game to check if the CE-41807-0 error code would still occur on your PS4 or PS5.

6. Rebuild Your Database.

Your Playstation’s database contains information about the games on your internal and external hard drives. However, as you use your Playstation, its database could get mixed up as you install or delete games and applications.

Fortunately, your Playstation has the option to rebuild its database to solve error codes like the CE-41807-0.

Check out the steps below to rebuild your PS4 and PS5’s database:

  1. First, make sure that your Playstation is completely turned off.
  2. After that, press the Power button for 8 seconds or until you hear a second beep from your Playstation
  3. Now, wait for your PS4 or PS5 to boot into Safe Mode
  4. Connect your controller using the charging cable afterward and press the PS button to turn it on.
  5. Lastly, choose the Rebuild Database option and follow the on-screen prompts.

After rebuilding your database, boot your console normally and check if the CE-41807 error code still occurs on your PS4 or PS5.

7. Repair Your External Drive.

The CE-41807-0 error code could also occur if your external drive got corrupted. Fortunately, your Playstation can repair it without having to reinstall everything.

You can do this by unplugging your external drive from your Playstation. After that, reconnect your external storage drive to your PS4 or PS5. Now, a prompt should pop up asking you to repair your drive.

Select the option to repair your external drive and follow the on-screen instructions to continue with the process.

Once done, go back to the games installed on your external drive to check if the problem is solved.

If none of the methods above worked out for you, we suggest letting the professionals handle the situation.

Visit Playstation’s official website and get in touch with their team to report the problem you’ve been experiencing with your external storage device. Provide all the necessary details on your report to speed up the process, including the version of your Playstation, the exact model of your hard drive, and a screenshot of the error code, if possible.

Hi @iluminatethesky,

Just thought I’d update here in case anyone else comes across this strange issue I have had. I spoke with Playstation and they guided me through using the PS4 Safe Mode Startup settings to try a few things there. I did try a few actually:

Rebuild Database (didn’t work)

— Restore Default Settings (didn’t work)

— Initialize PS4 (didn’t work — but sadly I now need to obvs re-download EVERYTHING rip)

I then noticed that the first time I entered the Store Library after Initializing (formatting the PS4) this time, the PvZ game showed the download option. Then, after I connected my storage hardrive again, it went back to the original issue. I always set my hardrive as ‘Install Location’ so that made me believe the game is stuck in an endless corrupt loop trying to download to the drive. I did not realize this at first because I just always started the PS4 up with it plugged in, even through the Safe Mode options.

Long story short, I turned my PS4 off, unplugged the hardrive, then started it up again. Low and behold I can now download PvZ to my Playstation. Once it finished I’m pretty sure I can just plug my hardrive back in with no worries. If it somehow fails when I do that, I’ll be back to update. If I am not back, it worked :D

Hope this may help someone in the future, but same time I hope no one has this issue.

Thanks for everything.

Nic
