Eos webcam utility ошибка

I kinda did and kinda didn’t.

I mean I have it working now but I»ve got a new update of win10  — the 2004 thing.

MS did that to me and killed everything.  I had to do a new install. First they updated, everything went wrong, it wouldn’t boot, and it wouldn’t rollback so I had to do a new install and that, of course, is the current 2004.

So then I couldn’t find an install package that would work so I hunted my old drives and found what I had used before:

canoneosutilityeuv3.10.0 -installer.exe a 124,689KB file and it installed fine.

That’s mainly what I was after.  I haven’t installed the dpp yet.  I’ll get onto that shortly and let you know if you’re interested.

Still trying to put things together on this new install.  I find win10 2004 disabled lan file/printer sharing by default, have to go to services and enable the appropriate function and then your lan works.  but the printer bit still doesn’t work.

And I’m told they did that so’s people would keep everything on the cloud instead of on their home lans.

That’s all good. It’s totally excellent.  Made up my mind for me finally after years of dithering.  I’m off to Linux.

yep, just installed dppw4.10.0 installer  and all went well, it seems to be working fine.

Canon cameras come with a lot of features in addition to just taking amazing pictures. Your camera can also pull double duty as a webcam with a USB cable and the right software.

However, connecting your camera to your PC might not go as smoothly as expected. In this article, we’re looking at how you can fix the EOS Webcam utility from Canon not working properly.

Check camera privacy settings

Modern OSs block camera permissions from individual programs as well. Try seeing if your OS is allowed to access your Canon camera in the first place.  

On Windows

Step 1: Press the Windows key and search for Camera settings. Click the corresponding search results.

On macOS

Step 1: Click on the Apple menu icon followed by System Preferences.

Step 3: Head over to the Privacy tab, select Camera and make sure your browser is allowed to access the camera.

On ChromeOS

Step 1: Click on the Settings option in the system tray, followed by Privacy and Security. 

Step 2: Select Site Settings.

Step 3: Click on the arrow to the left of the Camera. 

Step 4: Under the Block section, scroll down to find Google Meet and enable camera access. 


Check the EOS Utility

There are two main EOS Utilities, one for connecting to your camera remotely to take pictures and download images and the other for using it as a webcam. If the EOS Utility has taken control of your camera, the webcam utility tool won’t be able to access it for use. 

EOS webcam utility not working: 5 Fixes

Open your system tray and right-click the EOS utility icon. Check the Do not launch EOS utility automatically when camera is connected option, restart your PC and try again. 


Make sure your Camera WiFi is off

A lot of Canon cameras come with inbuilt WiFi to allow remote connections. The webcam utility, however, uses a wired connection. If the WiFi on your camera is on, chances are it might try to connect to some other device hence blocking the webcam utility. So turn the WiFi off and give it another go. 


Check the cable and port

Another potential issue could be with the cable you’re using to connect your camera to your PC. Try swapping out your cable and even the USB ports you’re trying to connect to on your PC. If you’re plugging into a USB port that goes through a header instead of a direct connection, it can lead to connectivity problems.


Try switching modes

Switching between still and movie mode can sometimes get the EOS webcam utility kickstarted. Additionally, you can also try switching between autofocus and manual focus modes to see if that helps get your camera up and running.

EOS Webcam Utility not working

I have a Canon 7D and I downloaded the Webcam Utility for my Mac.  When I go to zoom and select the EOS Webcam Utility as my «Camera» I get a backward image saying «EOS Webcam Utility» and a icon that looks like a camera and a red triangle with an exclamation mark instead of any video from my 7D.  I’ve tried starting live view etc, nothing works.  Any ideas?

You don’t say what OS. There’s a matrix of supported and unsupported OS/app combinations on the Mac FAQ.

Zoom is listed as supported in all of them, though.

You might have a USB cable that’s not supported, or has a problem. You have to exit the Canon EOS Utility, if it starts up automatically, as it does on my Windows systems. On my systems, I also need to move the live view/movie selector switch to ‘movie’ or it does not behave correctly.

Canon really has done a poor job providing information about how to use the webcam utility. Apparently they think it should just work for you.

I hope you get your problem sorted.

Edit: I experimented with mine a little, and if I don’t quit the EOS Utility and try to connect to the streamed camera, I get the red triangle with bang also, so I suspect that is your problem — you must quit the EOS Utility. Or perhaps there’s something else trying to communicate with the camera?

Sorry my mac is a Mac Pro 2010 with 24 cores @ 3.46ghz 128gb of ram and it’s running Mojave.

You might have a USB cable that’s not supported, or has a problem. You have to exit the Canon EOS Utility, if it starts up automatically, as it does on my Windows systems. On my systems, I also need to move the live view/movie selector switch to ‘movie’ or it does not behave correctly.

I have a bag of about 20-30 MiniUSB cables, I have tried a couple just in case, when I plug the cable into the camera the EOS Utility window appears:

I’ve tried exiting the EOS Utility window after connecting the cable, I’ve also tried killing the background process /Applications/Canon Utilities/EOS Utility/EOS Utility.app/Contents/MacOS/EOS Utility still nothing changes, when I disconnect the usb cable the webcam looks like this:

When I connect the cable I just get this:

I’ve tried putting it Movie mode after and before connecting the USB cable, I’ve tried connecting the USB cable while the camera is off and then turning it on, etc etc.  So far nothing has changed.

I do have the «latest» firmware installed 2.0.6

Check the information for your OS at the following link. Maybe there is something that can help get the issue sorted out. There is also a Canon support forum for the webcam utility.

I understand that MacOS is Unix underneath, and the lsof command works in a terminal window. You could use that to determine what has the camera device open, if anything. Also, note that the Canon EOS Utility will start up by preference and you must quit out of it before the streaming utility can work.

Hey, I just made an account to say I had the same problem for months, apparently the reason it wasn’t working was because the EOS utility application is working, which is separate from the EOS webcam utility software. You will have to completely «Exit» out of the EOS utility so the Webcam utility has access to the camera.

Cannon released the ‘EOS Webcam Utility’ to let EOS DSLR owners use their camera as a webcam in video conferencing apps like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and many more to have a better camera setup.

We did a detailed guide on using EOS Webcam Utility to set up a supported Canon DSLR camera as a webcam on a Windows 10 computer. However, for many of you who also happen to use Canon’s ‘EOS Utility’ software to connect the camera to the PC, you may find that the EOS Webcam Utility is not working on your PC.

Your Canon DSLR camera can only communicate with one software at a time. If you’ve both ‘EOS Utility’ and ‘EOS Webcam Utility’ running at the same time on your PC, the webcam utility won’t show your camera feed in the video conferencing app.

To fix this problem

Keep ‘EOS Utility’ app closed when you want to use ‘EOS Webcam Utility’ on your PC

To get ‘EOS Webcam Utility’ to work in video conferencing apps, you need to completely close the ‘EOS Utility’ app on your PC, and disable the ‘Start EOS utility automatically when the camera is connected’ option in the app.

✅ Disable ‘EOS Utility’ app from launching automatically when camera is connected. Right-click on the EOS Utility icon in the app tray on Taskbar, and select the ‘Do not launch EOS utility automatically when the camera is connected’ option from the menu.

✅ Completely close EOS Utility app by going to the same menu by right-clicking the app icon in the Windows 10 Taskbar tray, and then select the ‘Quit’ option from the menu.

After making sure, ‘EOS Utility’ is closed and not running your computer. Connect your camera to the PC for use as a webcam with ‘EOS Webcam Utility’.

This might be needed

Restart your PC

If even after closing the ‘EOS Utility’ app and disabling it from opening up automatically when the camera is connected, the ‘EOS Webcam Utility’ is not working on your PC, then restart your computer.

Restarting your PC will reset all USB connections among other things and that will most likely fix the problem for us.


EOS Webcam Utility is a beta software so there could be plenty of other reasons for it to fail to work. But we personally experienced the problem while the ‘EOS Utility’ app was running on the system. Closing it fixed the problem. We hope this article helps you just as much.
