Summary
This violation occurs when a net label has been detected to be floating, i.e. not attached to a wire or bus object, within the design. The message will also appear for a bus power port object that is not electrically connected to the rest of the circuit.
Notification
If compiler errors and warnings are enabled for display on the schematic (enabled on the Schematic — Compiler page of the Preferences dialog), an offending object will display a colored squiggle beneath it. Hovering over the object will display a pop-up hint that summarizes the violation. A notification is also displayed in the Messages panel in the following format:
Floating Net Label <NetLabelName>
where:
- NetLabelName is the name of the offending net label.
Recommendation for Resolution
Ensure that the offending net label object is connected to the required wire or bus object. If the net label is redundant, delete it from the design.
Check also that the wire/bus object and associated net label are on grid. An object can be moved back onto grid manually or by using the Edit » Align » Align To Grid command.
Also check that a wire is really a wire and not a line object!
Tip
- Object hints will only appear provided the Enable Connectivity Insight option is enabled on the System — Design Insight page of the Preferences dialog. Use the controls associated with the Object Hints entry in the Connectivity Insight Options region of the page to determine the launch style for such hints (Mouse Hover and/or Alt+Double Click).

I am quite new to Altium Designer and I am having error troubles such as floating nets, pins, and what not (see below). My PCB is going to be a thermistor expansion board, in which I am just multiplexing a bunch of thermistors into ADC’s and sending that to my MCU.
Since this is a very repetitive design I thought using a hierarchical design method with sheet symbols on a top sheet would be a good way to go. Please excuse the mess as I am just trying to solve the errors, and I will clean the schematic up once it’s able to compile. Please give any and all advice on best practice or general layout, or what have you.
Top Level Schematic
Here is my top sheet schematic, its a 50 pin connector sheet symbol connecting to my MUX sheet symbol via a bus. I am currently not using the ADC_OUT_(2&3) but will be once I can get passed these other errors

Even though this bus connects to my mux sheet (and ends on a mux pin) it still gives me this error.

It’s intended that 3 16 channel muxs will be connected to the bus via net labels
Mux Sheet Errors
Net labels that connect to the bus via bus entry points, also have a corresponding net label on the mux, yet I still get a floating pin and net label with only one pin error.
Ideally an answer that shows what I did right, what I did right and could be changed based on industry or known best practise, and what I did wrong and how it can be rectified would be fantastic! That way this thread can be looked at by another Altium newcomer and clearly see what has been laid out.

I am learning Altium Designer and currently I am getting Floating Net Labels warnings/errors (depends on project options) while trying to compile project at following situation:
here is selected warning situation:
and here is warning itself (there are other I think identical warnings and once the first one will be solved, the others will not be a problem):
[Warning] INPUT_SELECTOR.SchDoc Compiler Floating Net Label AUDIO_INPUT_ACTIVE1 at (70,590)
Now, I have read the Floating net labels docs and:
- I am connecting Wire to Bus and NOT Line to Bus
- The Net Label IS positioned to the Wire
The sheet is part of multisheed design and can someone give me some hints, what could be wrong, since these warnings are very annoying?

The Texas Instruments ULN2003A IC used here was created automaticaly using Altium’s Eagle Import Wizard and something went wrong while importing parts. I’ve removed created library from project (and deleted part from schematics), downloaded part from SamacSys, imported it into project, used part in schematic, recompiled project and warning/errors went away. Since I am newbie at Altium, I do not know what exactly went wrong in import proces from Eagle.
