Morrowind graphics extender ошибка

If you like playing The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind but find its graphics to be less than ideal, MGE XE fits you perfectly. MGE XE stands for Morrowind Graphics Extender XE and it’s able to overhaul the graphics of Morrowind. In most of the cases, getting MGE XE to work is a straightforward affair that involves little time and effort. That being said, complaints about MGE XE not working still pop up from time to time.

What Must Be Done

Run XE As An Administrator

  • Step 1: Locate MGE XE .exe, right-click on it and pick Properties.
  • Step 2: Head to the Compatibility tab then check the checkbox next to Run this program as an administrator.
  • Step 3: Select Apply and choose OK.
  • Step 4: Open MGE XE.
  • Step 5: Apply changes to the resolution then launch the game.

Note: The game launcher needs to be run as an administrator too.

Make Use Of Registry Editor

  • Step 1: Disable User Account Control (UAC)
  • Step 2: Type regedit into the Search bar and hit Enter
  • Step 3: Go to the directory: [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesVirtualStoreMA CHINESOFTWAREWow6432Node]
  • Step 4: Delete the Bethesda Softworks folder, close Registry Editor and restart the computer.
  • Step 5: Head to the game installation folder
  • Step 6: Delete d3d8.dll, dinput8.dll and MGEgui.exe
  • Step 7: Open the game
  • Step 8: Copy the MGE files again
  • Step 9: Launch MGE

Revert To A Previous Version

If none of the above works, you may want to switch to an old version of MGE XE. Needless to say, you have to delete every trait of the current version before installing other versions to avoid conflict.

MGE XE Not Working: Causes

Like its contemporaries, MGE XE would have a hard time working if it lacks permission. Aside from that, if the resolution is different from the one designed for the mod, things may go haywire as well. Sometimes, if you check out the resolution in MGE XE, you could see a message that says: “Unable to find morrowind registry keys. Please run the game as administrator before installing MGE”. Regardless, unless you take action, there is a good chance that the issue is going to persist.

A Summary Of MGE XE

MGE XE in essence serves as a graphic add-on to the game. In order to run MGE XE smoothly, the PC specifications must meet these requirements:

  • Morrowind GOTY or Bloodmoon (patched).
  • Graphics card made in the 2010s.
  • Windows Vista SP2 or later (Windows XP is not supported since MGE XE 0.11.2).
  • Morrowind Code Patch, if you want to use MWSE.

Features that make MGE XE popular are resolution, FOV configuration and distant world rendering. Additionally, the water receives a new, realistic look with simulated ripples from the player or raindrops. Besides that, solar shadows are upgraded and automatically change based on the time of day. Other improvements worth mentioning include shaders like SSAO, Sunshafts, HD, per-pixel lighting and MWSE 2.1 support.

Will Morrowind Be Remastered In The Future?

The Bethesda’s CEO, Todd Howard, has confirmed that there are not any plans for a remastered version of Morrowind on the table at the moment.

Is There An Ending In Morrowind?

Completing the main quests does not mean the end of the game. The world of Vvardenfell can still be changed in various ways.

Is Morrowind Superior To Its Sequel, Skyrim?

There is no certain answer as different players have different viewpoints towards each title. However, there are some points that Morrowind outshines Skyrim such as the amount of freedom available to the players.

What Must Be Done To Dodge In Morrowind?

Morrowind’s combat mechanics are made to give players a true experience. To dodge incoming attacks, you need to attack while moving to the left or right and make your character swing the weapons sideways. By doing so, you will cause your opponents to miss their attacks as you constantly move side to side.

Is There A Level Limit In Morrowind?

In Morrowind, major and minor skills can be learned after level 15 and 30 respectively. To max out all the skills, you need 775 skill increases and if they are all counted towards the level, 78 is the maximum level possible without cheating.

Is It Worth Investing In Agility In Morrowind?

Yes, agility is one of the main attributes in Morrowind and it influences many things. If you have high agility, your character can dodge attacks, hit the enemies, use shields to block, … with relative ease. Furthermore, the chance of being staggered is also reduced greatly.

Which Type Of Armor Should I Use, Light Or Heavy?

That depends on the situation as well as your preferences. Light armors surely are not as tanky as heavy armors because they have lower ratings. However, light armors are easier to acquire and carry and give a bonus to agility which is one of the most important attributes in combat.

How Long Is A Day In Morrowind?

In Morrowind, the time flies by faster than real time by a factor of 30. So, 1 hour in the game equals 2 minutes in real life. As a result, spending a day in Morrowind means that 48 minutes have passed.

Ways To Play

  • If the fatigue level has reached around 75% then you should not get into combat. Furthermore, in the first few levels, it’s unwise to use all the stamina to sprint amidst battle because you will likely lose.
  • You think that luck is related to the loot drop? Then you are completely wrong as luck only helps enchanting items, hitting enemies and so on.
  • It is best to stick to a weapon and master it since weapon skill determines the chance of hitting enemies. The ideal weapon for casual players is the long blade since most of the Morrowind best artifacts are associated with it.
  • In your first playthrough, don’t try to be a pure spell caster. Spellcasting in Morrowind is a tough road which requires a combination of knowledge and skills to succeed.

I, too, am sorry to Necrobump but I’m having quite a bit of trouble here. It seems as though MGE has overruled my Morrowind and won’t let it work anymore. :(

It’s been ages since I started Morrowind, only did it to see how it would run, but couldn’t run any MWE mods because the game would refuse to load via MWE due to me playing on Vista. Since then I’ve swapped to W7 64bit.

I don’t plan to use the ‘main’ parts of MGE (the graphics, old laptop, you see), but I decided to install it so that I could run the Script Extender, MW Enhanced, and the FPS Optimiser all in conjunction (MWSE runs as a part of MGE, from which I would boot MWE, which launches Morrowind).

Prior to this, I was able to get Morrowind to start through its own launcher, through MWSE, and through MW enhanced (good, it couldn’t do that on Vista).

So, I downloaded MGE and tried to install. I received an error, something about not finding ‘dxd3_30.dll’ (I BELIEVE that was the dll in question), so I put the install on hold and downloaded a DX9 package from after August of the specified year (the one I got was from 2K10, which is well up to date compared to what MGE asked for) and put the relevant dll in my System32 folder.

So, I tried the MGE installer as per normal. Again, same problem, so I just thought I wouldn’t bother and would find an alternative at a later date when I needed MWSE (probably won’t need it for my first play).

So, just to confirm all over again, I tried to launch MW Enhanced. It failed to bring up the normal grey GUI boxes, said it had an issue with MGE — again, a dll one, however I believe this error message was SOMEWHAT different. So, I downloaded a registry / dll cleanup tool, ran it.

Now I launched the MWE GUI again, yup, got the options this time, clicked ‘Launch Morrowind’ and got the Morrowind Launcher (Play, Options, Data Files, etc.). I clicked Play and got a little box up in the corner as it always does just before MW goes fullscreen, then got this error message:

Could not open MGEdinput.data for reading.
You need to run megui.exe at least once to create the save files

I click okay and I’m back to no Morrowind. I even try running it with MWSE and with just the launcher itself. Still no luck, same issue as above

When I try to run mgegui.exe, I get a ‘MGEgui.exe has stopped working’ message, and nothing happens. So I figure I have to install MGE then. I run the installer despite the problems, same problem with MGEgui.exe after install, same problem with the Morrowind launch.

By now I just decided to uninstall MGE entirely so I can just run Morrowind outside of MGE, so I uninstall it.

I still get that same error.

I no longer care about the benefits of MGE, I’ll sort those at a later date if I wish so. All I want to do now is to play Morrowind. I fear an uninstall and reinstall won’t solve it — this isn’t Morrowind’s fault but MGE’s, as MGE is always automatically ‘attaching’ itself to Morrowind. Morrowind won’t run independently, it’s always trying to run VIA MGE.

How can I de-couple them from one another? As though I never downloaded MGE at all?

Install and test the latest Morrowind Graphics Extender. MGE requires Morrowind/Tribunal/Bloodmoon to together be patched to v1.6.1820, or it won’t run. Set the settings from your screen resolution (can go up to widescreen 1920 x 1200px), anti-aliasing, anisotropic, etc. Don’t tinker with the other default settings, just check that you’re getting the screen resolution you want, and the anti-aliasing etc.

* Troubleshooting tip 1: If you’re having problems having MGE detect the screen resolution, it’s likely because you first need to run Morrowind without MGE a few times and adjust resolution using the normal method, which then creates some Windows registry settings that MGE requires.

* Troubleshooting tip 2: Note that MGE requires DirectX 9 – yet Windows 7 only ships with later versions of DirectX, and so on a fresh install of Windows 7 this means that MGE may not launch. Install DirectX version 9c, if in doubt — it will co-exist happily with later versions of DirectX. Most recent Windows games will install DirectX version 9c as part of their install procedure, so just installing one of your other games is probably the simplest way to get DirectX 9 on a fresh install of Windows 7. As soon as MGE can “see” DirectX 9c, it will launch.

* Troubleshooting tip 3: MGE has other Microsoft dependencies, and apparently needs to be run from a desktop shortcut.

* Troubleshooting tip 4: Make sure your Morrowind.ini file is not set to ‘read only’. If it is, MGE will not be able to write the new screen resolution settings to it.

* Troubleshooting tip 5: On Windows 8, setting no Compatibility Mode worked. But setting Compatibility Mode to older versions of Windows caused MGE to crash.

MGE is in constant development, and so recommending exact settings for it here may cause problems some months down the line. However, note that MGE does gives you lots of cool options — like using the old Daggerfall combat system in Morrowind.

MGE ‘Distant Lands’ ON/OFF?

I personally prefer to play with “View Distant Lands” set to OFF; I find that viewing distant lands is more trouble than it’s worth. And in the past it’s also been quite a tricky MGE feature for newbies to set up correctly. It also, in my opinon, made the landscape look rather “bald” and un-mysterious. There was no foggy covering, no anticipation, no imagination in play about “what might be over the next hill”. You saw everything already from a distance, and thus there was no mystery about what was coming. Seeing distant lands was a visual “spoiler”, in my opinion.

And MGE used its own water, which just couldn’t begin to compete with Morrowind‘s own water.

However, these problems may now have been fixed in the latest versions of MGE – so I suggest giving “View Distant Lands” at least one chance. I’m now told…

“for some months now MGE has its own feature to adjust fog according to the weather”

and that…

“MGE’s water was changed extensively during the last development cycle, and maybe your strong rejection of it was based on a previous version. In that case I’d encourage you to try the latest MGE release. Harlanrm is also working on a tweaked [water] shader which was received very well lately.”

A full guide to the various MGE settings can be found here.

Problems?

Both the game and the Morrowind Graphics Extender must usually be run with “administrator” rights under Windows. I can confirm that both Morrowind and Oblivion work fine on Windows 7.

If speed seems to be an issue, try getting FRAPS and then run it with “administrator” rights under Windows. To do this, right-click the desktop icon for FRAPS, click “Properties” then “Compatiability”. Tick ‘Run this program as administrator’ and ‘Disable desktop composition’. Click Apply and then OK. You can now use FRAPS to test if the slick Windows Aero interface is slowing the game down – just run it, enable in-game FPS display, and then start Morrowind. The Windows Aero desktop looks great, but hogs a lot of resources — which can slow games down.

Still have problems?

* Did you install the game and its retail expansion packs in exactly the right order?

* Be sure to disable any legacy graphics enhancements for Morrowind you may have set via the Nvidia control panel. MGE is now controlling how Morrowind looks.

* Do you have some bloated anti-virus/firewall installed like Norton? Is there a “I’m playing games now, so don’t be such as assh*le” button you can click to make it less intrusive or less of a system-hog?

* Getting a “can’t find animation” crash when you open a door to an exterior and see a cliff-racer or seagull ahead of you? Try decreasing the MGE setting for ‘view distance’. “100” seems to be recommended in the forums.

* There is a NO-CD fix for Morrowind + Tribunal + Bloodmoon, but I don’t recommend it. For me, it screwed up the mouse cursor in the initial menu systems and thus made the game unstartable. Useless. It will also likely conflict with the unofficial code patches we’ll install in a moment.

* The dreaded “crash on opening the ship’s hatch” bug at the start of the game…

(1) It may be the ffdshow bug, which was common to Mass Effect and Fallout 3. Fix.

(2) It may be the video drivers need updating – which was what fixed it for me. If using Vista, update and fully patch Vista using Windows Update (Microsoft released a fix for the notorious Nvidia NVLDDMKM bug in Sept 08), then get the latest Nvidia graphics card drivers. That completely cured the problem for me.

So everything was working until I put distant land through MGE on morrowind. Then when I try to start morrowind I get a message saying that the application was unable to start correctly 0xc000007b. I knew something was wrong with directx or Network so I tried updating them but it didn’t work. I then tried installing outside of programx86 folder, still got the same message. I used MGXE as well and still nothing. I’m running windows 10, and my guess is that windows 10 cannot run morrowind with MGE. Furthermore morrowind isn’t detecting my GPU, only the integrated graphics. Can someone please help me. Is there another way to create distant land? Is MGE or MGE XE compatible with windows 10? Help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

In response to post #50786247. #50788057 is also a reply to the same post.

Okay I solved the problem. I was stupid and didn’t get DirectX9c 2010, I got that now. It allowed me to use my main GPU. Also make sure to get the other requirements like 2008 C++ and Net framework 4.0 (I already had those two). Then I decided to go to the MGE Wiki to get help. Turns out they had an updated version of MGE. Different to nexus. Now the hardest part, So it turns out dinput8.dll was causing all the trouble with the 0xc000007b. So I couldn’t exactly fix the problem, but got a workaround. I opened MGE like normal, put int the settings I wanted then exited. NOW VERY IMPORTANT. I deleted dinput8.dll before I ran morrowind and now no error, morrowind worked perfectly. However, if you want to change something using MGE, you have to put it back into the morrowind folder or MGE will warn you saying, please reinstall. And that’s it. Just delete that dinput8.dll. I’m not sure how important it is for Morrowind to work, but I had no problems deleting it after I put my settings on MGE for morrowind. I hope this helps.

Oh Yeah I also got C++ 2005, but I’m not sure if it directly helped anything.

OH MY GOD!! I spent the better part of my Labour Day long weekend trying to get Morrowind working again, but was running around in circles! Not sure what Micro$hit did, but I’m sure it’s their latest «Creator Updated» that messed something up, as Morrowind was working fine for me at the beginning of May 2017 (the last time I played it).

When I tried to play it a few months later (September 2017), that dreaded 0xc000007b error kept popping up, and nothing could fix it! I even tried this thing called «Dependency Walker», but it couldn’t pinpoint any missing DLL. I uninstalled all VC++ redistributables, and DirectX 9.0c June 2010, but nothing helped. But thanks to aguy1111, RENAMING «dinput8.dll» in Morrowind’s folder made Morrowind work right away!

aguy1111, if you have a PayPal account, please PM it to me so I can send you $5 as a big THANK YOU for finding the solution!

I’ll just add that you don’t have to delete «dinput8.dll». Just rename it to «1dinput8.dll» or add any other number/character so that Morrowind/MGE can’t find it, and it will RUN! YEAAAAAH!!

Oh, thank you Micro$hit for wasting my Labour Day weekend! Keep breaking stuff! We love it! Hahaha

Oh! I discovered that if you copy «dinput8.dll» from C:WindowsSystem32 into your Morrowind folder (replacing the one there), Morrowind will run with no issues too!

Now I just need to sort out this new «bug» that won’t let me alt-tab out of fullscreen Morrowind and back.

Thanks again aguy1111!

Ha! It turns out that while trying to get Morrowind to work again, I left the «Compatibility Mode» setting on, and set for Windows XP  (Service Pack 3)! Once I turned it off, I was able to alt-tab again with no issues! Now I can finally go back Vvanderfell, and try to finish this REALLY long game! Hehehe

I’ve tried renaming or deleting «dinput8.dll» but upon launching it now provides me with a new error (application load error 5:0000065434). Anyone else getting this issue? I’ve tried running all .exe as administrator, checking updates etc. to no avail.

  • Morrowind better bodies ошибка
  • Modx 503 ошибка после переноса
  • More tv код ошибки 202
  • Modx 500 ошибка после переноса
  • More than one device emulator ошибка
