На днях поступила претензия от супруги — пылесос отказывается пылесосить. Пришлось вникнуть в проблему и устранить ее. И сегодня я хочу рассказать о системе питания своего домашнего помощника, робота-пылососа Neato XV-21. Это будет первой публикацией из серии, запланированных мной статей, посвященных этому домашнему роботу.
Этот робот-пылесос был приобретен примерно полтора года назад — осенью 2012г. Забегая вперед, скажу, что приобретением доволен и серьезных проблем с ним пока не возникало.
Для этой модели пылесоса используется отдельная док-станция, которую Neato ищет самостоятельно. Производитель рекомендует держать пылесос постоянно подключенным к зарядному устройству, причем слева, и справа от зарядного устройства должно оставаться примерно по 70 см для удобной парковки. Но, как показывает опыт эксплуатации, этому роботу вполне достаточно свободного подъезда лишь с двух сторон.

Если все нормально, то полностью заряженных аккумуляторов хватает для очистки примерно 70 квадратных метров. После этого пылесос начинает пищать, писать мольбы на экране и пытается искать зарядное устройство.
Вернусь к проблеме, с которой и началась эта статья. Проявилась она следующим образом. После цикла полной зарядки, если пылесос запустить в работу, буквально через пару минут он сигнализировал о недостаточном заряде батареи. Если его поставить на зарядку он заряжался положенное время и после запуска в работу его хватало опять на пару минут. Первые версии которые пришли в голову — проблема с аккумуляторами, проблема с зарядным устройством. Решил начать с зарядного устройства.
Вскрыв док-станцию (для этого просто необходимо нажать на кнопку в верхней части корпуса), я обнаружил внутри зарядное устройство с аккуратно уложенным проводом.

Достаем блок питания
Зарядное устройство Power System Technologies, модель FA065LS1-02 рассчитано на напряжение 24 В и зарядный ток 2.5 А. Центральный вывод разъема является положительным контактом.

Еще один интересный момент скрывает темное акриловое стекло на лицевой стороне. Если его снять,то взгляду предстанет такая картинка:

Ми видим четыре узких черных (светопоглощающих) и 3 белых полоски, выполненных из световозвращающей пленки. Это своеобразный штрих-код для робота, который нужен для определения местоположения базы в помещении, используя лазерный сканер пылесоса. Если эта область загрязнится, или станет недоступна Neato по какой-либо другой причине, то пылесос не сможет определить местоположение зарядного устройства.
Ничего криминального в зарядном устройстве я не обнаружил, поэтому вернул все на место и принялся за аккумуляторы.
В Neato XV-21 отсеки для аккумуляторов расположены в нижней части пылесоса в непосредственной близости от колес и двигателей. Как видно, таких отсеков два.

Чтобы извлечь аккумулятор, необходимо открутить два шурупа,

аккуратно отсоединить разъем и достать сам аккумулятор. Замечу, что отсек имеет форму самого аккумулятора, что надежно его фиксирует.
Аккумуляторы
По факту, аккумулятор представляет из себя аккумуляторную сборку, состоящую из шести NiMH аккумуляторов McNair, емкостью 3200 мА·ч и суммарным напряжением 7.2 В (6 x 1.2 В = 7.2 В).

Я уже писал в своей статье Разбираемся в аккумуляторах о применении различных типов аккумуляторов в мобильных роботах. Конструкторы Neato остановились на NiMH аккумуляторах. Из-за того, что этот тип аккумуляторов подвержен достаточно высокому уровню саморазряда, производитель и рекомендует держать пылесос, по-возможности, постоянно на зарядке.
Если удалить внешнюю термоусадочную оболочку, то можно обнаружить три дополнительных компонента, используемых для контроля температуры батареи (термистор) и защиты от перегрузки по току, используя термопредохранитель и полимерный самовосстанавливающийся предохранитель. Элементы расположены по обоим сторонам сборки, как показано на фотографиях ниже.

Итак, здесь мы видим 6 NiMH банок и три элемента защиты. Можно заметить, что термистор прилегает лишь к одной из ячеек аккумулятора, а потому температурный контроль осуществляется только по одному из элементов.
Попытки заменить аккумуляторы на Li-ion к успеху не приведут, так как система управления питанием Neato XV-21 сконфигурирована для заряда именно NiMH батарей. Обречены на провал и попытки увеличить время работы пылесоса, заменив аккумуляторы на более емкие, например, с емкостью 4500 мА·ч, так как пылесос ограничивает заряд аккумуляторов только емкостью 3200 мА·ч. Достигается это установкой фиксированного времени заряда. Доказательством этой версии служит то, что если отсоединить полностью заряженные аккумуляторы и воткнуть из вновь, то пылесос вновь будет производить их заряд, а также наличие в меню опции «New battery». Робот сначала производит по таймеру (емкость априорно известна и можно рассчитать время заряда) «быструю» зарядку до уровня 85%. В этом цикле используются термисторы для управления зарядом через ограничение температуры батареи. Здесь нужно учесть зависимость от температуры окружающей среды, которую робот не принимает во внимание. Затем Neato переходит в режим поддерживающего заряда. Вследствие этого, более емкие аккумуляторы на 4500 мА·ч будут заряжаться очень долго (по оценкам, более 30 часов). Но использоваться этот аккумулятор будет как имеющий емкость 3200 мА·ч (запрограммировано время разряда для аакумуляторов именно такой емкости).
Cистема зарядки Neato не учитывает особенности деградации аккумуляторов с течением времени. Из-за этого начинают возникать проблемы со временем работы из-за неправильного режима заряда.
Алгоритм управления питанием
- При первом включении робота (аккумуляторы разряжены) загружается операционная система и обнуляются счетчики времени работы и времени зарядки.
- Происходит процесс зарядки и при помощи таймера зарядки определяется ее продолжительность. Через 3 часа робот переключается из режима быстрой зарядки в режим постоянного дозаряда. Так как включенный робот постоянно потребляет энергию (на работу системы управления и контроля), то это не позволяет выйти постоянно заряжающемуся малым током аккумулятору из строя.
- После запуска на уборку (по таймеру или же в ручном режиме), робот начинает контролировать заряд на аккумуляторных батареях. Как только напряжение снижается до величины 12 В робот возвращается на базу для подзарядки.
- Вернуться на базу Neato самостоятельно может либо, если полностью разряжены аккумуляторы и необходим полный заряд батарей, либо он разрядился частично, но уборка уже завершена. Если осталось убрать небольшую площадь, то робот заряжается недолго и заканчивает свою работу. Если же по спланированному маршруту работы осталось много — заряжается полностью. Для произведения этих расчетов используется построенная роботом карта помещения и таймер времени работы для определения оставшегося заряда. На основе этого определяется время зарядки.
- При отключении аккумуляторов от робота, происходит обнуление счетчиков и пылесос не будет знать насколько заряжены его аккумуляторы. Поэтому первый цикл заряда будет неопределенным.
Калибровка аккумуляторных батарей
Если время работы пылесоса сократилось, то можно попробовать произвести калибровку батарей, то есть выровнять заряд во всех банках батареи. Это можно сделать, в том числе, следующим образом. Пусть пылесос поработает до того момента, пока не будет проситься на зарядку (помещаете пылесос в комнату, где нет его зарядки и закрываете в нее дверь, чтобы он сам не смог до нее доехать). Оставьте его со светящимся экраном — пусть продолжает разряжать аккумуляторы. Когда экран погаснет, попробуйте еще несколько раз включить его. Neato будет включаться и сразу же выключаться, но батареи продолжат при этом разряжаться. После того, как он совсем перестанет реагировать (состояние глубокого разряда) поместите его на зарядную станцию и выберете в меню пункт «New battery». Когда пылесос зарядится, немного оттащите его от базы — Neato самостоятельно к ней пододвинется и возобновит зарядку. Когда постоянно будет гореть зеленый индикатор, показывая полный заряд — запустите его в работу. Это должно помочь лишь в том случае если дело было в неправильной первой зарядке после покупки пылесоса (производитель рекомендует заряжать несколько часов). Также причиной может быть и сам робот, который не дает аккумулятором разрядится полностью, тем самым, постепенно сокращая время работы.
Если, конечно, одна из банок в аккумуляторе вышла из строя — эта процедура как «мертвому припарки». Необходимо либо заменить вышедшую из строя банку, либо менять весь аккумулятор.

Первое, что я решил сделать — это просто попробовать переткнуть разъемы и посмотреть на результат. И о счастье! Помогло. Пылесос зарядился и после запуска, пропылесосил всю квартиру и вернулся обратно на зарядку. Скорее всего, проблема была в отсутствии контакта на каком-то из двух внутренних штырьков разъема, используемых во время процесса зарядки и аккумуляторы просто недозаряжались.

Topic: NEATO XV-11 robot vacuum Battery Issue 0002 error [FIXED] (Read 5786 times)

Had an intermittent, the permanent, battery fault issue on my Neato XV-11 (now about 6 years old). Symptoms were blank screen and no boot-up — solid amber LED lights around the red Start button when docked to the charger. Buttons unresponsive. Removing and reinstalling batteries ineffective, as were suggested Reset attempts using Start + other buttons. Batteries were newish and load-tested fine. Tried suggested web solution of plugging USB link into computer. No joy initially but it did boot when also docked to power station — that’s when LED came on and Battery Issue 0002 showed up. Stripped it down — turned out to have a few problems — bad solder joints on a 100uF 25V electrolytic cap, one leaky 100uF 35V cap and a bad solder joint on a power connector to the main board. Easy fix and working fine now. Presumably joints failed over time from frequent bumping into objects. Thought this might be useful to others who encounter this quite common battery fail message.
Worth noting that the various plastic posts into which the multidinous cover screws are fitted do become fragile and crack over time. Have managed to patch a couple using RapidFix — uses methacrylate adhesive and fine powder to weld/strengthen plastic. Pays to be gentle with them. Plenty of online videos about how to strip these units down.

Sorry. Don’t recall. But I don’t think there’s a great many in there IIRC. I had chronic hard-to-resolve NiMH battery problems with mine until I switched to third party Li batteries configured to fit battery compartment. Since then completely trouble free. Strongly recommend switching over.

I just received my brand new Neato XV Signature Pro from Amazon, plugged it in and promptly get an error when charging at the base, Battery Error (0002), Press [OK] to restart. I Googled around, and found some articles about unscrewing the two battery cases on the bottom of the machine, making sure they were well seated, disconnecting and reconnecting them, etc.
In short, nothing works.
I would update the firmware, but why the top of the line 2013 Neato unit comes with mini USB versus the current micro USB, I have no idea. So, I have to wait 3-7 days for that to arrive from Amazon, before I attempt that.
Has anyone encountered this, and if so, what is the fix, except for returning the unit and getting a new one?

Looks like Neato hasn’t worked out the reliability bugs with the newer model.
I would send it back.
Also, depending on how much you paid at amazon (I see it listed as $450). You may want to get an XV-11 from walmart for $220 with free shipping ($250 with the pet kit). A 3 year warranty is an extra $28. It’s essentially the same robot. Maybe just buy two for less than what the signature pro costs, and it will clean your house twice as fast!

OK, I will wait a little longer, and see what Neato’s support has to say, and we will ship it back if necessary. We attempted an XV-11 from Costco, but the suction, etc. was not up to par, which is why we returned that, and ordered the top-of-the-line model. The new vacuum power and allergen filters are very important for us, with a one-year-old in the house. Thanks for the quick reply!

If you looking for a good filter, you may want to buy Vic’s Hepa filter mod. As I understand it, Neato’s filter’s are still not hepa certified. He charges only $15 for one (which includes shipping) and it really nice.

UPDATE:
I just got off the phone with Neato Technical Support, very pleasantly surprised that they had their call center staffed on Independence Day.
In short, here is the fix:
1. Open the dust bin
2. On the left hand side there is an On/Off switch that is almost impossible to see unless pointed out (especially since it is undocumented in the instructions)
3. By default it is Off, and this indicates to the robot to only operate on one battery.
4. Turn the switch On
5. Charge the robot
Now, the XV Signature Pro is running on two batteries instead of one.
Yes, I asked him to create a KB/FAQ article for the official Neato support site.
Voila!

Yes, the HEPA filter mod will fit ALL Neato models.
Also that charging issue you experienced has been posted here before but not with the Pro model that you purchased and that may be why no-one posted in this thread about the hidden on/off switch in the dust bin cavity. Glad to read of your success.

Sorry to point this out but neato rescinded the announcement regarding increased vacuum power. The only difference in model between the previous models and the signature is colour and the inclusion of different filters and/or brushbars

I thought this as well, but didn’t want to burst anybody’s bubble. I think pretty much all the Neato models are essentially the same, +/- pet brush and filter. Basically choose the color you like.

Guess who didn’t get that documentation with the unit? 
Everyone here is still sleeping, and I can get a photo to you later, if you still want it. Also, please be advised that the firmware of the Signature may be different than the XV-21. I will find out as soon as I get the USB mini cable from Amazon that was just shipped. Why Canon and Neato still use USB mini, I have no idea. Where’s the petition or enhancement request to get WiFi included in the next Signature Pro?

Lol Wifi? We’d be happy with any new features added to the range. So far all neato have changed are accessories (filter and brushbar) and the colours! Difficult to get too excited each time they launch a new colour.

Hi guys,
First post here. So I picked up a Signature Pro from Amazon last week. Has worked well, and I honestly can’t fault it considering what it is.
Yesterday however I noticed a fault come up on screen — Battery Error (0002). So i pressed OK, and it reset. (clock reset). I put it back on dock, and the fault came up again. I did this about 3 times, then I switched the switch from ‘ON’ to ‘Off’ and then back to ‘ON’ again.
The neato was already switched to ‘ON’ before I started using it.
The error did not come back up when I re-docked it.
I did read on another forum that the issue is possibly the actual AC to DC converter. Can anyone here back this up?
I’m considering buying a replacement 21v DC transformer.

What is Neato Rps Error Codes error?

1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator.

3) In the new window, select «Restore my computer to an earlier time» option and then click Next.
4) Select the most recent system restore point from the «On this list, click a restore point» list, and then click Next.

иробот после 3 лет чего то подустал, минут 20 работает и встает, видимо надо батарею поменять

Как бы да, последние модели у айробота и айклебо пыль умеют высасывать. У нас айклебо омега, месяц назад где-то купили, с тех пор обычный пылесос не доставали, для ковра и робота хватает.

Neato XV-21.
Года два не включал.
Сейчас стоит заряжается.
Я хочу понять, покупать новые аккумуляторы или смысла нет.Не помню точно, но по-моему он вставал, пищал и писал My vision was blocked
Сейчас зарядится на сколько смогут старые батарейки и запущу его.
Посмотрю, что скажет

Я тоже к нему присматривалась, пишут, что у него функция управления со смартфона глючная, теряется связь с сервером и настройки падают. Купили iCLEBO Omega в итоге. Она была дешевле на 5000 айробота, с двумя боковыми щетками (у айробота одна) и функцией влажной уборки (у айробота ее нет). А в остальном примерно на том же уровне.

Короче, я свой Neato победил ))
Запустил его, он зажужжал, но через пять секунд встал и написал, » почистите мою щетку».
Решил я почистить не только щетку, но и весь пылесос.
Кучу волос снял с колёс, но руки требовали большего. Полез чистить голову с лазером. Разобрал его полностью, почистил, собрал.
Включаю, а на экране пустота, только подсветка горит. Разобрал снова, пошевелил все контакты, не помогает.
Видимо шлейф поломал.Кстати, пылесос до меня вскрывался.
Пломбы сорваны, некоторые винты отсутствуют, некоторые сломаны.Теперь думаю, этот чинить или новый выбирать?

Отдайте специалистам, я вот этому отдавал, http://medtex.livejournal.com , лечил «зеленую кому», полное ТО, после этого стал работать дольше и правильнее. Сейчас сдохли батареи (вторые за 6 лет), просто беда без робота, ненавижу свою собаку)))

купил на прошлой неделе
до этого роботов не было, сравнивать не с чем, но результат нравится
запускается за 3 часа до возвращения с работы каждый день
база стоит в сложном месте за углом, находит без проблем, на темных полах больше практически нет пыли
единственное на коврики в СУ часто залезть не может

Да на него батарейка потянет по деньгам наверное как 25-30% стоимости уж можно еще один робот пылесос купить, но попроще.

#Fix for RPS error and wheel spring hook
It has been 2 years and I am still using neato.
Below are 2 item which fail on me during this 2 years.
1. The wheel spring hook broken
2. RPS error.
3. LCD screen died.
Firstly I am a little hands on and I have operate neato about 10 times. Means literally, open it up based on a guided screw instruction.
So fix the wheel spring hook, this is a wear and tear and plastic issue. Just open up and use the Sally supa glue and stick them back. Leave it for 24 hours and you are good . So that is how I fix that.
For RPS, I have been reading and notice that the laser need to spin fast enough to capture the room data. So with 45 minute and $1.00 . I fix the issue. RPS usually happen after the first run, which means due to heat, the pulley rubber which turn the laser head expanded and hence the spinning become slow. So take a trip to sim lim tower, go down to basement and look for a shop called sunlight or something. Could not remember. They have a wall full of rubber. Ring. So take your old neato rubber and go measure 1 that is the same size and find 1 more slightly smaller, like 1 or 2 mm. Sorry no parts number. Just guts fell by pulling the tension with both finger .
Each rubber is only $0.50, so for heck sake, I bought the equal size and the 1mm smaller. Save the trip and parking just in case it the size don’t fit. So I installed the smaller one and Tada!, it’s fix. I have able to run neato back to back. So no need the bull**** of clearing the bin after every run and etc. the difference is that neato rubber is rounded and thicker which the sim lim is square and thinner. Well it works so can’t be bothered. The only suspect I see is that maybe after 6 to 9 months this rubber will loosen again and RPS will happen. So by then just change the rubber.
Finally is the LCD screen death. This is something I could not fix as the module is a single piece. I know the ribbon wire is not good but they are all soldered. So what I have done is that I use scheduling, I set up a time to run on Sunday 3 am. So every morning, I leave the house and set Sunday 12 am and by 3 hours neato is fully charge and able to run by then. Luckily for the schedule is still intact when the LCD died on me. So without the screen I could still set the time for schedule.
Power up neato, press menu, then down 2x and then press ok for 8 times. That will set the time for 12 hours zone, Sunday, 12 am, and save.
So for those who use neato for schedule better set a schedule for Sunday 3 am in your schedule . So when Neato LCD died, you can still set Sunday 12 am blindly. Haaa
Btw I use neato 2x a week. So the battery will run out and the clock will reset between each cleaning. Why Sunday? Cause that is the first option by default . That is what makes the time setting easy blindly. Haaa

Error messages require your attention before Botvac can proceed. The LEDs will change to red to notify you that there is an error. The error message will display until you correct the error condition, and/or press the OKAY button to clear.

| 0006 | There is an issue with the battery. If issue persists, please contact Neato Customer Care. |
| 0007 | The robot is too cold or in an environment that is too cold for it to operate properly. Charge the robot in a warmer environment. |
| 0008 | The battery is not properly connected. Press OKAY Open the dirt bin and make sure the ON/OFF switch on the left in the dirt bin is DOWN. Replace the dirt bin. |
| 0009 | The battery is not properly connected. Press OKAY Open the dirt bin and make sure the ON/OFF switch on the left in the dirt bin is DOWN. Replace the dirt bin. |
| 2000 | Botvac is having difficulty navigating the environment. 1-The laser is blocked. 2-It is having difficulty navigating the floor. 3-The sensors are dirty or not working properly. 4-The wheels or brush are dirty. |
| 8000 | The battery is experiencing an error. If issue persists, contact Neato Customer Care. |
Alert messages inform you of Botvac’s condition but should not affect the its ability to clean. These screens are temporary and can be turned off by pressing “OKAY”.
Troubleshooting
Your vacuum is smart and will let you know when it needs help with anything. Just read the messages on the LCD to understand what it needs. Here are some specific tips.

Cleaning The Filter
For optimal performance, empty the Botvac dirt bin and clean the filter after every use.
- Take out the dirt bin.
- Remove the filter.
- Empty the contents of the dirt bin into a garbage can. Tap the filter against the garbage can to get rid of any excess dirt.
- Replace the filter and make sure it is tight. Insert the dirt bin back into the Botvac and make sure it is fully engaged.
Change the filter in your Botvac every one to two months. Factors that determine how often to change the filter include: frequency of vacuuming, size of the area it is cleaning, and the amount of dirt, debris and pet hair it picks up.
