A few users have reported some similar issues they are having installing or uninstalling Rainmeter. Since there has only been a few reports of these issues over the years, it has been a real struggle for the development team to track down since none of us can replicate the issue.

It is not clear if these issues are related or not. The problem could be with the installer software we use (NSIS), a problem with the Rainmeter specific installation script, or it could be a Windows issue. Or it could be a virus/malware issue.

Currently, the size our installer exe file is 2.37 MB (version 4.4.0.3338). The installer includes both the 32-bit and 64-bit installations. Once installed, the Rainmeter program files (in «C:Program Files») will be less than 6.5 MB (on a 64-bit system). This size can vary slightly with 32-bit systems and/or Windows 7/8/8.1/10.

Our installers in the past have varied in size from less than 1 MB to just over 10MB. Since early 2011, after combining the 32-bit and 64-bit installations in one file, the size of the installer has never been above 3.3 MB.

Despite what is being shown in both of the pictures above, it is virtually impossible for these sizes to be correct.

If you are experiencing one of these issues, do the following:

Perform an uninstall of Rainmeter. You do not need to uninstall any skins. If you cannot run the uninstaller, follow the instructions on this page: https://docs.rainmeter.net/tips/clean-rainmeter-uninstall/

Re-download the latest release version of Rainmeter. You may want to save the installer in a different location than the previous downloaded version that did not work.

Run the installer. Select the «Standard installation». This will install Rainmeter to the C:Program FilesRainmeter folder.

Verify the «size» of all the contents in the C:Program FilesRainmeter folder (you can right-click on the Rainmeter folder using Windows Explorer and select «Properties»). It should be less than 6.5 MB.

If you’re like me and don’t like adding shortcuts to the startup folder in the Start Menu (don’t ask why) you can add a simple key to your registry.

Open Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun

Create a new String Value, name it Rainmeter and set it’s value to the complete path of Rainmeter.exe
i.e.- C:Program FilesRainmeterRainmeter.exe

If you later wish for Rainmeter not to start up with windows, you can either remove the key or disable the option with MsConfig.

There’s also programs that I’m pretty sure will do it for you.

I use Startup.exe — simple enough.

Как подавляющее большинство пользователей Windows, я не раз задавался вопросом, как же украсить свой рабочий стол так, чтобы он был чем-то большим, чем просто свалкой ярлычков, папок и временных файлов. Но не смотря на то, что Microsoft за последние годы все же несколько изменила рабочий стол Windows, добавилась вменяемая панель, плагины, темы, возможности настройки системы под себя до сих пор остаются практически нулевыми — легко заметить, что большинство скриншотов Windows индивидуальны разве что в плане обоев/пары плагинов, при чем настраиваемость самих плагинов. нет её, и все тут.

Однако не все так плохо. Буквально пару дней назад я открыл для себя программу Rainmeter. .

С помощью до мелочей настраиваемых виджетов программа позволяет отображать загруженность процессора, памяти, жесткого диска, сетевого трафика и т.д., может отображать погоду, RSS, календарь, время. только кофе не варит.

Например:

При всем при этом программа съедает весьма небольшое количество ресурсов. Правда, не обходится и без ложки дегтя — настройка виджетов новичку очень сложна, могут возникнуть проблемы.

Здравствуйте ! Всё зависит от размера используемой картинки и её применения в скине. Если картинка небольшая и вы планируете её использовать как кнопку, логичнее с неё и сделать кнопку. Как сделать кнопку ? В этом случае для подсветки в кнопке третью картинку необходимо немного осветлить.
Если же картинка большая по размеру, можно в метре картинки использовать параметр ImageTint
Пример кода :

В параметр ImageTint можно добавить 4-е значение — прозрачность.

Во всех метрах группы прописать параметр Hidden=1 ,если по умолчанию эта группа должна быть скрыта и Hidden=0 — если должна быть показана.

У меня и так стоит этот параметр, Но, группа скрывается только по клику по данной meter а мне нужно без клика, автоматом

Nastya16, для начала задавать вопросы в соответствующих ветках форума, ибо ваш вопрос к Rainmeter не имеет никакого отношения.

А по существу, то надо смотреть какая тема для какой версии ОС. Вам кроме отката с помощью точки восстановления/резервной копии или переустановки ОС ничего не поможет.

Кроме того еще есть такой способ, но я его не проверял так как давно уже черных экранов не ловил.

Process 1: Remove The Malicious Skin

When you find that your Rainmeter won’t open after repeated efforts just remove the bugged Rainmeter skin.

Try and remember the last skin you have loaded, and this may be the root cause. So it will be wise to delete that skin from your system.

Follow the method mentioned below to do so:

Step 1: Go to your File Explorer and then go to the Documents section to locate the Rainmeter folder.

Step 2: Now click on the folder and find your particular Rainmeter skin. If you are having many Rainmeter skins, then find it in the Rainmeter folder and then navigate to find the particular bugged skin.

Step 3: Right-click on the skin and select the Delete option.

So, a clean Rainmeter uninstalls will be a good option for you.

Before you proceed with the uninstallation process, I will recommend copying the skins you want to save in your c drive under the Rainmeters’ skins folder and also check the files under Roaming/Rainmeter/Plugins.

Step 1: First of all, exit Rainmeter and then get a fresh copy from the trusted website.

Step 2: Now go to System settings for add or remove programs and then uninstall the Rainmeter.

Check that now the Rainmeter is not giving you further trouble after loading the illustro suite by default.

Sometimes Rainmeter crashes and you have no idea why. Here’s a straightforward guide to fix it.

The methods below should be followed sequentially, if the first method doesn’t work, move on to the next method, and so forth.

Method 1: Delete Bugged Skin

Whenever Rainmeter crashes, chances are that a skin you loaded was bugged. If you remembered what skin was last loaded that caused Rainmeter to crash, follow the steps below, otherwise move on to the next method.

Steps:

In File Explorer, navigate to Documents/Rainmeter/Skins folder. This is where all your skins are kept.
Within the folder, delete the folder with the name of the bugged skin.
Restart Rainmeter.

Method 2: Clear Rainmeter Settings Cache

This method will “reset” your skins’ layout but will still keep your downloaded skins intact. This means you have to track down the bugged skin afterwards.

Steps:

Press ⊞ Win+R, type «%APPDATA%» (without quotes), and press Enter. File Explorer will open.
Navigate to Roaming/Rainmeter folder and delete the Rainmeter.ini file.
Restart Rainmeter. It should load the illustro skins by default.

Method 3: Reinstall Rainmeter

The last resort. You can backup your skins at Documents/Rainmeter/Skins if you wish, but it will very likely bring back the crash again.

Steps:

In Windows, search for «Add or remove programs», search for Rainmeter and click Uninstall.
Go to the Rainmeter website and download the latest release.
Install Rainmeter.
