Error code 0x0. 05: Access denied. Router functionality not available. #32

Windows 10 64bits, latest version, ran as administrator..
Tried to route everyhing, nothing works. some say «pending» in parentesis some gives me the error:
Error code 0x0. 05: Access denied. Router functionality not available.

Any workaround?
Is this project dead?

Interestingly, the program is able to route it’s own output but not any other program.

I made an exemption in Windows Defender just in case that was interfering, but no change.

Verified this is a permissions issue on Windows 10. Running the program as with System privileges allows it to work as intended.

Steps for test/workaround:
Prerequisites:

• Get PSEXEC (set of windows command line admin tools from MS/Sysinternals). Download and extract the zip.

1. Launch and Administrative Powershell
2. In powershell run

After this Audio router.exe is running interactively on the current account with System privileges:

Doesn’t work for me. Does the routed app need administrator privileges too ?

The only time I seem to get this error is when trying to re-route Firefox (v56.0).

I have same trouble.

I found solution. Run «Audio Router.exe» With compatibility Windows 8 and Administrator right.

So im on windows 7, and had a similar issue as stated here. however, I noticed that Firefox was listed 3 times even though it was only running once. Then i remembered that Firefox now opens several instances of itself in order to complete more tasks at once.

However, i did also run as admin (even though i keep UAC off in windows) and put compatibility mode on windows 7 (even though im running windows 7) lol, Just trying to give u my data 🙂

This is the first time this has popped up for me since I started using audio router. It doesn’t seem to be a problem all across the board, but as of 6/30/2017 I keep getting this error message whenever I try to route the audio from google chrome.

This error show for any app. In Windows 10 always show «acess is denied»

I get the same error when trying to route some programs.
It also says «Router functionality not available.»

Same here. I’m guessing it’s a Windows 10 update that broke something. Here is the only security update close to and earlier than OP’s post that includes audio fixes.

«Addressed issue where, after installing the Creators Update, audio output through external decoders no longer works.»

«Addressed issue with high latency when using the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) MIDI API.»

Any news on this? Having the same issue with all applications

I got the same. However, i noted that you can still use it but in reverse :

• Set default device to internal speakers (or whatever is your default)
• Then route apps to the other non-default-devices.

This way it worked for me fine even in creators update.

• Use a non Microsoft Store app (prevent 0x00000005 error)
• Run «Audio Roter.exe» with compatibility mode for windows 7 (prevent duplication pending error)
• Duplicate the audio from Default output to output A, then duplicate from output A to output B. (Don’t check Soft routing)
• (Follow the steps strictly or you will listen it in bad quality)

The suggested fix does not work. I still have this error when trying to route anything.

Error code 0x00000005 about audio-router HOT 8 OPEN

I had the same issue on one of my kid’s computers and he was trying to use Audio Router to route chrome’s audio through VoiceMeeter Banana.

I had to run his chrome as administrator and it started working! It also fixed it so that chrome would show up normally in the Audio Router window, otherwise he’d have to click File->»Switch View» in order to see chrome, and even then it wouldn’t work, but after running as administrator it works perfectly. 🙂

Error code 0x00000005 #50

Win10 Pro 1703 x64

Game: 7DaysToDie
Get error 0x00000005 cause AntiCheatTool «EasyAntiCheat», and «BattleEye».
I can start start game without AntiCheatTool , then it works.

I don’t know your situation, but in case it helps: I was also getting this error.

I had compiled it for Mixed Platforms (which was the default) instead of 64 bit , once I rebuilt the entire solution as 64 bit , everything started working correctly for me.

Could you please tell me how to compile it or could you provide the 64-Bit release you’ve compiled?

@TomPiXX There’s a link to the 64-bit release in the readme, my comment was just in case any one else was trying to build from scratch and was encountering this issue.

I’ve noticed that all applications in the default view are missing, as well. Just the audio devices are displayed.

It only works when I run it on my administrator account or in debug mode (x64) in Visual Studio (running as Administrator).
I’m using Window 10 Pro Version 1607 (64bit) and can’t get it working on my user account.

@dnn1s Do you get the error just for Rainbow Six or for any application?
For me it’s for any application and it only works on a Administrator account (not just running it as Admin) or running it as System on any account (using PsTools).

I only tried Rainbow, since OP had the problem with Arma, and there is another issue regarding Overwatch. All of these games have a certain anti-cheat mechanism, so I’m suspicious if that might be the common case (protected memory or something like that, I’m just an iOS and web developer, not a Windows-API-guy).
I hesitate to try any further like you suggested, I want to avoid getting banned from the game because of using third party tools that Ubisofts anti cheat might detect.

Guys just go search sound settings on your windows 10 scroll and click on last option u can route there itself

Having the same problem, I’m on Windows 10. Running as admin or compatibility mode with Windows 7 or 8 don’t change anything. Used this years ago on both Windows 7 and Windows 8 and it worked without much trouble. Now I get this and this: #121

This is just a short notice for all of you having issues with audio-router or looking for exactly that feature and don’t know that Windows system feature. It works perfectly its just not that handy without any fast tray option.

Go to: Preference Panel -> System -> Sound -> Advanced (or Extended) sound options -> Appvolume and Device options

It won’t duplicate tho. I really like audio router, but it seems like windows method would save a extra «space» in the taskbar.
However, with audio router you just close it and it goes back to normal config, I think it still is very handy to have the app!

What does the duplicate audio do?

It lets you stream to two different speakers at the same time! I find it has some kind of a bug, when you duplicate it generally just routs it, you’ll probably need to duplicate again to work properly.

There are apps that seem to ignore the setting in Windows 10. Audio Router forces those apps. So I use it for those stubborn apps. Also if you change the output in Audio Router, you don’t have to restart the app. Setting it in Windows, you sometime have to restart.

I this hoping that it would fix some apps ignoring WIndows 10 settings but it doesn’t. It simply causes them to crash.

Добавлю, что при попытке присоединиться к нужной wi-fi-сети ( с условным именем «старое имя сети»), для которой уже существует настроенное подключение (с тем же именем), создается новое подключение с именем «старое имя сети 1», если попробовать подключиться еще раз — создается подключение с именем «старое имя сети 2» и т.д.

П.С. Извиняюсь, кажется, это я виноват, что не умею настраивать сеть — теперь все работает!

Вывод звука на разные аудиоустройства

Существует два варианта разделения звука. В первом случае мы будем получать сигнал из одного источника и выводить его одновременно на несколько аудиоустройств. Во втором – из разных, к примеру, из браузера и плеера, причем каждый девайс будет воспроизводить свой контент.

Способ 1: Один источник звука

Данный способ подойдет в тех случаях, когда необходимо прослушивать текущую аудиодорожку сразу на нескольких устройствах. Это могут быть любые подключенные к компьютеру колонки, наушники и прочее. Рекомендации сработают, даже если используются разные звуковые карты – внутренняя и внешняя. Для осуществления задуманного нам понадобится программа с названием Virtual Audio Cable.

Рекомендуется устанавливать софт в ту папку, которую предлагает инсталлятор, то есть путь лучше не менять. Это поможет избежать ошибок в работе.

После установки софта в нашей системе появится дополнительный аудиодевайс «Line 1».

1. Открываем папку с установленной программой по адресу

   C:Program FilesVirtual Audio Cable

   Находим файл audiorepeater.exe и запускаем его.

   

2. В открывшемся окне репитера в качестве входного устройства выбираем «Line 1».

   

3. Выходным назначаем тот девайс, с которого планируется воспроизводить звук, пусть это будут колонки компьютера.

   

4. Далее нам необходимо создать еще один репитер тем же способом, что и первый, то есть запустить файл audiorepeater.exe еще раз. Здесь мы также выбираем «Line 1» для входящего сигнала, а для воспроизведения определяем другое устройство, например, телевизор или наушники.

   

5. Вызываем строку «Выполнить» (Windows + R) и пишем команду

   mmsys.cpl
   

6. На вкладке «Воспроизведение» кликаем по «Line 1» и делаем его устройством по умолчанию.

7. Возвращаемся к репитерам и в каждом окне нажимаем кнопку «Start». Теперь мы можем слышать звук одновременно в разных динамиках.

   

Способ 2: Разные источники звука

В этом случае мы выведем звуковой сигнал из двух источников на разные устройства. Для примера возьмем браузер с музыкой и плеер, на котором включим фильм. В качестве плеера выступит VLC Media Player.

Для выполнения данной операции нам также понадобится специальный софт – Audio Router, представляющий собой стандартный микшер громкости Windows, но с расширенным функционалом.

При загрузке обратите внимание, что на странице присутствуют две версии – для 32-х и 64-битных систем.

1. Поскольку программа не требует установки, то копируем файлы из полученного архива в подготовленную заранее папку.
   
2. Запускаем файл Audio Router.exe и видим все аудиоустройства, имеющиеся в системе, а также источники звука. Обратите внимание, что для того, чтобы источник появился в интерфейсе, необходимо запустить соответствующую программу – плеер или браузер.

   

3. Дальше все предельно просто. Выбираем, например, плеер и кликаем по значку с треугольником. Переходим к пункту «Route».

   

4. В выпадающем списке ищем необходимый девайс (телевизор) и жмем ОК.

   

5. То же самое проделываем и для браузера, но на этот раз выбираем другое аудиоустройство.

   

Таким образом мы получим желаемый результат – на телевизор будет выведен звук из VLC Media Player, а музыка из браузера будет транслироваться на любой другой выбранный девайс – наушники или колонки компьютера. Для того чтобы вернуться к стандартным настройкам, достаточно выбрать в списке «Default Audio Device». Не забудьте, что эту процедуру нужно провести два раза, то есть для обоих источников сигнала.

Заключение

«Разводка» звука на разные устройства – не такая уж и сложная задача, если в этом помогают специальные программы. Если вам часто требуется использовать для воспроизведения не только одни лишь компьютерные колонки, то стоит задуматься о том, чтобы «прописать» софт, о котором шла речь, в своем ПК на постоянной основе.
