Allright, I have spent the last 2 hours trying to get my RPG maker VX ACE game working on windows 10 and I have just about given up. First, I copied the fonts folder to the game directory, didnt work. Then I re-installed the RTP in FOUR diffrent programs folder location (x86 and Normal, as well as one with Common Filles) With no avail. THEN I decided to reinstall the whole thing, and that did nothing either. I cant even coppy the VL-Gothic-Regular.tiff to the Fonts folder because it says its an invalid font file; clearly it is because I need it.

Is anyone else getting this error to this severe of a degree?

Ive seen it pop up before, but they claimed it can be fixed by re-installing, witch for me it cant.

Is this a windows 10 thing, or a general issue?

Maybe try and use a different font for your game. In the «Main» part of the script section (bottom most script) do the following:

When I double click it I get a message called «The Requested file Is not a valid font file.» And When that line of code is entered I get the same message. Furthermore placing the font file in the directory yields simmalar results.

Im curious as to how they will solve thsi particular problem as if its based in windows 10, how will they develop a wide spread patch.

Does anyone know of a possible hack to FORCE installation of a font?

It’s a bit late to respond but i had the same problem with Windows 10. The issue was that the Windows-Firewall has to be activated so Windows can install or open fonts who are not already in the Windows fonts file.

No. It seems not work for me.

I download and unzip it, there isn’t any inf file, just some readmes, licenses, changelog, and two ttf font files.

When I try to install ttf files, it popup an error like «File you request ‘xxx/xxx/xxx.ttf’ is not valid font file» ( This message is a translation, language of my os is Chinese).

So. What’s happend again?

Hrm. I’m afraid I’m not having this problem. Try downloading the ZIP file again. Before you unzip it, right-click on the ZIP file, and go to «Properties» (it should be the item at the bottom of the list). Then, under the «General» tab (it should open to this tab), look at the very bottom for «Security:», and then, there should be an empty checkbox. Beside that checkbox it will say «Unblock». Tick that checkbox, close the Properties, and then unzip and right-click the TTF file and attempt to install again.

Make sure you download the one at the top of the list, with the Windows icon next to it.

you might want to reread what I posted. if you had actually taken the time to read what I posted you would see that sometimes with windows 10 the windows 10 firewall needs to be enabled when downloading the game and installing it.

How to install fonts that are missing after upgrading to Windows 10

When you upgrade from the Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 operating system to Windows 10, certain fonts are no longer available by default post-upgrade. To reduce the operating system footprint, improve performance, and optimize disk space usage, we moved many of the fonts that were previously shipped with prior versions of Windows to the optional features of Windows 10. If you install a fresh instance of Windows 10, or upgrade an older version of Windows to Windows 10, these optional features are not enabled by default. As a result, these fonts appear to be missing from the system.

If you have documents created using the missing fonts, these documents might display differently on Windows 10.

For example, if you have an English (or French, German, or Spanish) version of Windows 10 installed, you might notice that fonts such as the following are appear to be missing:

• Gautami
• Meiryo
• Narkism/Batang
• BatangChe
• Dotum
• DotumChe
• Gulim
• GulimChe
• Gungsuh
• GungsuhChe

If you want to use these fonts, you can enable the optional feature to add these back to your system. Be aware that this is a permanent change in behavior for Windows 10, and it will remain this way in future releases.

Installing language-associated features via language settings:

If you want to use the fonts from the optional feature and you know that you will want to view Web pages, edit documents, or use apps in the language associated with that feature, add that language into your user profile. You do this the Settings app.

For example, here are the steps to install the fonts associated with the Hebrew language:

1. Click Start > Settings.
2. In Settings, click Time & language, and then click Region & language.
3. If Hebrew is not included in the list of languages, click the plus sign (+) to add a language.
4. Find Hebrew, and then click it to add it to your language list.

Once you have added Hebrew to your language list, then the optional Hebrew font feature and other optional features for Hebrew language support are installed. This should only take a few minutes.
