Всё очень просто, у тебя отсутствует компонент для обновления Joomla.
Попробуй поставить этот компонент. Ошибка должна исчезнуть. Если получится отпиши.

либо у него может отсутствовать плагин  (быть выключенным) для автообновы

JДжон, а что вам мешает обновить Joomla вручную, скачав с сайта Joomla.org пакет обновления и установить его как обычное расширение ?

А очистка кеша обновлений не помогает ? Менеджер расширений — вкладка Обновление — кнопка Очистить кеш ?

У меня просто хостинг пароноидальный и allow_url_fopen отключен наглухо, не включат по любому. Так что всегда обновляюсь так и кеш очищаю.

А у Вас случаем не WhiteSuite в хостерах-то? а то че-то проблемки-то похожи! Я с указанным хостером тока столкнулся и вот теперь думаю — нормальный или нет… По поводу открытия указанного порта этот хостер мне заявил, что какой-то там консорциум это дело запретил держать отрытым в целях безопасности! Ну а я им вопрос — так че это у меня у одного такого проблема… Ответ, типа: это для вас проблема, а для других вопросы безопасности в приоритете и точка! Как только не пытался выяснить, все к одному приходим. Даже пароль им давал для ковыряния одминки сайта. Итог: договорились, что они мне поставят «нормальную» Joomla. И они то ее поставили, тока ошибка то та же осталась! Так что вот так! И бросать их жалко (условия у них шоколадные) и оставляться у них … не известно чем еще потом запахнет!

Ну а по поводу ручного обновления — считаю что если есть автомат, то пусть стреляет! Не желательно все делать самому, хочется хоть какой-то автоматизации и чтоб голова не болела!

Вот как-раз после такого автомата голова и заболит.
Сайт и тем более работа админки должны быть всегда у вас под полным контролем.
А на работающем сайте обновления лучше делать не на след. день после их выхода, а подождать, почитать на форуме темы по этому поводу.

Да, WhiteSuite является одним из хостингов на котором у меня есть сайты. Запрет allow_url_fopen не является проблемой или ошибкой — это вполне нормальное решение, особенно для людей не очень знакомых с тонкостями администрирования и безопасности сайтов. allow_url_fopen — это одна из небезопасных функций PHP и неправильное (неумелое) ее использование приведет к тому что можно будет легко получить полный доступ к вашему сайту со всеми вытекающими последствиями. В PHP есть более безопасная замена этой функции замена — расширение cURL и механиз обновления многоих расширений может использовать как один, так и другой вариант. Почему разработчики Joomla не предусмотрели такой вариант со стандартным обновлением движка, не знаю, но думаю в будущих версиях это будет.

WhiteSuite — довольно хорошо защищенный на уровне «защита от дурака» хостинг. Работаю с данным хостингом уже более полугода и пока ни одной проблемы. Очень радует быстрая тех.поддержка и адекватные цены при отличной стабильности и надежности.

По поводу обновления Joomla — вам абсолютно правильно написал SK, автоматическое обновление — не всегда хорошо. Это удобно, но если не знать механизм того что происходит — можно получить множество проблем на ровном месте.

Да, с проблемой обновления я уже смирился и на это не обращаю внимание. Спасибо за отзыв по поводу выбранного мною хостера, надеюсь у меня с ним проблем тоже не будет. Получается, что это будет мой первый хостер, если не считать тестовых. Всем УДАЧИ!

Is the title the complete error that you receive? If not please post the whole thing

First things first.

1. Got to the Extensions Manager=>Discover tab
   1. CLICK Discover
   2. If Update Extension discovered select it and
   3. CLICK Install
2. Make sure the database has been updated to reflect the changes from the update(s)
   1. Go to the Extensions=>Extension Manager->Database tab
   2. CLICK the Fix button (top right toolbar).
3. Also , make sure that you clear the Joomla cache files.
   1. Go to Extensions=>Extension Manager->Updates tab
   2. CLICK Purge Cache
4. Report back with the outcome.

Side Note:
Why are you even contemplating J3.0. I guess you are not a developer or Joomla tester and early adopters should really know what they are doing as early releases can be problematical.
J3.0 is a Short term release whereas 2.5 is the current long-term release and support continues for it until 2014. So it is probably in your interest not to jump on 3.0 except for personal testing and enjoyment until it is fully tested and established.

EDIT
Occasionally this will not achieve the desired result and some users have found that when they CLICK Discover and the JUpdate extension is identified if they then CLICK Options, then waiting for the page to resolve, which it often does not, they CLICK the browser Back button this somehow resolves the issues automagically? Not personally experienced this so cannot confirm or deny!

1. Extensions Manager=>Discover tab No extensions found
2. Extensions manager Database manager: 6 problems found. They were all fixed using the fix tab
3. I did Extension manager/Updates/Purge cache

But the original error is still there when clicking on the Icon Joomla is up to date in the control panel, see attached screen dump.

Side note: Yes I agree with you: Any first time major release should be installed with care and that we will do sometime during autumn, but first in a test copy.

1. BACKUP YOUR SITE AND DATABASE
2. Download the latest Full Stable Joomla Package.
3. Extract the archive locally
4. Upload all the files and directories (except the installation/ directory) usin FTP client set to Binary file transfer type
5. Overwrite the current files on the host KEEP THE SAME FILE HIERARCHY
6. Repeat the steps in my previous post.

I did as suggested: After backup I loaded a full joomla 2.5.6 installation on top of the files overwriting all files. After that I did as was suggested earlier.

The error message is still there exactly as before.

I am also concerned that the status of the Quick icon does not show in your image either, all this points to some other issues.

Result after filering with «Update», see attached screendump

Database tables prefix_extension for com_joomlaupdate. Should be ID 28. I have exported the database to a sql file and can not find the string com_joomlaupdate. I should probably do this differently. HOW?

com_joomlaupdate is present in the file system (highlighted in green above) but if there is not trace of it in the database this is why it is not functioning as it is not installed.

You should just view the tables in the database using phpMyAdmin that way you are not likely to lose it in a mass of code and markup script.

Also a little concerned at the «unknown» reference highlighted in red. It might be a reference to something from an earlier version of Joomla that is no longer applicable or it might (possibly) be something that really should not be there at all. (although reviewing your extensions further it might be another of the JCE plugins?)

So, this boils down to the the component com_joomlaupdate is wrong.

I have once again installaled the full 2.5.7 package (without the installation folder) on top after the upgrade to 2.5.7, but the problem is still there. Everything seems to be working including making update.

It there a way to reinstall just the com_joomlaupdate?
