My time capsule gives an «IPv6 relay error». IT came zout of the blue for me. I didn’t change any settings and there was no recent update for the Cisco dosis modem wicht i have running in ‘bridge mode’. The only firmware update wich i had to run after i noticed this status was om my QNAP Nas. That update didn’t bring any change either. I executed several powercycles, resetted the modem, but still, no change in the status. The error
The softwareversies in the TC is 7.7.3. The most recent version i assume.
Anyone any clue for me?

Is your Internet Service Provider fully set up for IPv6 connections? Most are not.
If not, open AirPort Utility, click on the Time Capsule and click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Internet tab at the top of the window
Click the Internet Options button
Check to see that the setting for Configure IPv6 is set to Link Local Only
Click Save
Click Update at the lower right of the window to restart the Time Capsule

Если ранее ваша базовая станция была настроена на использование туннельного режима трафика IPv6 со значением параметра «Конфигурация IPv6» равном «Автоматически», установка прошивки AirPort 7.5.2 вернет этому параметру значение «Только местная ссылка», что изменит режим IPv6.
Для повторного включения туннелирования IPv6 с помощью значения параметра «Автоматически» выполните перечисленные ниже действия.
- Откройте AirPort-Утилиту, расположенную в папке «ПрограммыСлужебные программы» в ОС Mac OS X или в меню «Пуск» > «Все программы» > «AirPort» в ОС Windows).
- Выберите вашу базовую станцию Wi-Fi.
- Нажмите «Настройка вручную».
- Нажмите «Дополнительно».
- Перейдите на вкладку IPV6.
- В списке режимов IPv6 выберите «Тоннель».
- В списке «Конфигурация IPv6» выберите «Автоматически».
- Для применения настроек нажмите «Обновить».
Примечание. Убедитесь, что для вашей программы выключен или включен режим «Блокировать входящие подключения IPv6» в зависимости от особенностей использования программы.

The latest version for the Time Capsule is at the moment is 7.6.3.
I installed this update and after the installation I experienced issues with my IPv6 connectivity. I googled around and found many discussions and blogs where people are explaining they have issues with IPv6 tunnels (6in4) after the update.
When I started my AirPort Utility I noticed that my native IPv6 configuration options are still the same. But the weird thing is that Apple somehow changed the IPv6 WAN address to address from the 6to4 prefix (described in RFC 3056). This prefix starts with 2002: then followed by the IP Address converted to hexadecimal numbers, which together makes the /48 6to4 prefix.
So if my IPv4 address was 123.234.123.234 my 6to4 address would be: 2002:7BEA:7BEA::/48. You need to do the calculation from decimal to hexadecimal (123 = 0x7B and 234 = 0xEA).
The weird thing is that in the configuration you can see my address was still manually configured to a IPv6 unicast prefix, but somehow Apple changed the active IPv6 on the WAN interface to the 6to4 prefix. You can see this in the picture below:
The only solution to get IPv6 to work again is to downgrade the Time Capsule. You need to click on your Time Capsule. When you hover over you version number and use the ‘option’ button when you click you get the option to select your previous version number. See the screenshot below:
After the downgrade to 7.6.1 I see that the configured IPv6 WAN address is the same as the active IPv6 address. A visit to test-ipv6.com shows that IPv6 is working again :).

AirPort-Утилиту для настройки параметров брандмауэра IPv6.
Для настройки параметров брандмауэра IPv6 выполните следующие действия.

Откройте AirPort-Утилиту, находящуюся в папке «Служебные программы» папки
«Программы» на компьютере Mac, или в меню «Пуск» > «Все программы» > «AirPort»
на компьютере с ОС Windows.

Выберите устройство из списка и введите пароль.

Нажмите кнопку «Дополнительно» и нажмите «Брандмауэр IPv6».
По умолчанию флажки «Разрешить тоннели Teredo» и «Разрешить аутентификацию
входящих IPSec» установлены.

IPv6 нажмите кнопку добавления (+) и введите адрес IPv6 и/или порт для устройства.
Для использования брандмауэра IPv6 необходимо беспроводное устройство

I have a AirPort Extreme 802.11n (5th Generation) connected to a Zyxel VMG1312-B30A modem. My ISP is Deutsche Telekom with VDSL.
For quite some time I was able to use native IPv6. But this stopped working for me and I don’t know why. I am unable to set IPv6 mode on the Airport to Automatic or even Manually! I tried both Airport Utility on the Mac and iOS.
I’m getting a IPv6 Relay Error. Strange thing, with other hardware it works just fine.
Did this change with a firmware update? What can I do to get this working again?

If it was working before without a tunnel, the issue is almost certainly the ISP. The AirPort extreme has fairly well-developed IPv6 support, and should work fine.

Did you change your contract? You get IPv6 only in newer «IP-Telefonie» contracts. Maybe you should call the hotline and ask, if it’s unlocked.

It’s actually a glitch in the newer firmware starting with 7.6.3. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with the ISP’s and this error is only limited to Apple Airport products. Currently, the only way to fix it is to manually input all of your IPv6 information into the airport router.

Hello all,
I have a brand new Airport Extreme (the tall one) connected directly to my router, and I’m getting the internet just fine. However, I have a yellow flashing light on the Extreme, and in Airport Utility the status reads ‘IPv6 Relay Error.’ I’m not very tech savvy, and I’m afraid I have no idea what this means or how to go about fixing it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Unless you are currently using IPv6, be sure that your AirPort Extreme is configured to use the «Link-local only» setting for IPv6.
You can set this using the AirPort Utility:
- AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Edit
- Internet > Internet Options > Configure IPv6: Link-local only
On your Mac:
- System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced
- TCP/IP > Configure IPv6: Link-local only

Does AirPort Extreme support IPv6?
Not much was known about IPv6 at that time, but Apple included some preliminary settings for the router. Unfortunately, nothing has changed in regard to IPv6 on the AirPort Extreme since it was introduced.
Why is my AirPort Extreme not connecting to Internet?
The Ethernet cable may not be connected properly, your AirPort Extreme may be out of range of an AirPort network, or there may be a problem with your Internet service provider. If you are connected to the Internet with a DSL or cable modem, the modem may have lost its connection to the network or the Internet.
Is Apple AirPort Extreme still supported?
Is Apple Still Updating Airport Extreme? Apple still supports its AirPort devices with software updates, even though they have been discontinued for a long time. A new firmware update has been released for AirPort Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule Base Stations.
