В шрифтах TTF таблица «name» содержит информацию о шрифте. Там в таблице здесь , которая, если вы заинтересованы, дает точную информацию о том , что содержит имя таблицы.
У меня была такая же проблема со шрифтами в прошлом. Большую часть времени они работают нормально, хотя иногда они не отображаются во всех приложениях. С некоторым поиском в Google я нашел руководство, которое исправляет структуру таблицы имен.

I posted this earlier with some other questions, but no response, so its kind of a bump.
Font Book Validate warns about my copy of Avant Garde which I use often. This is a font I have dragged from Mac to Mac over the years. It probably was bundled with System 7 or 8. Apple eliminated it from the bundled fonts after that. It’s not in any of my other software font bundles. The error is only in the Book version (that’s what I use, but no error in the Demi), and only on item ‘name’ table structure. ID shows Kind — True Type, Version is 1.1
Is this a corruption which can be repaired? How?
Permanent damage?
Just too old for the OS10.6.xx?
I websearched to purchase a new one and found them from about $30 to $400. I prefer a True Type. How do I choose? How do I know it will be error free?

Font Book — «name» table error

Every other free font I install, Font Book complains about a «minor issue» with its «name table structure». What is a name table? What sorts of problems should I expect these «minor issues» to cause?

In TTF fonts, the «name» table contains information on the font. There’s a table here which, if you’re interested, gives you the exact information on what the name table contains.
I’ve had the same problem with fonts in the past. Most of the time they work fine, although sometimes they won’t show up in all applications. With some Googling I found a guide which fixes the name table structure.
