What do you need help with?

Troubleshooting

I can’t use the Lyric function.

This might occur in the following cases.

• When the lyrics change to *** in the middle of a track

In order to fully use the Lyric function, you’ll need to subscribe the Creative Plan.

• The message «Cannot create DirectX/OpenGL interop» appears or the screen stays black

Your system specifications should meet the requirements for rekordbox.

You should also update your graphics driver to the latest version.

If the situation does not improve after the update, you may not able to use the Lyric function on your system.

”Communication with rekordboxAgent failed.” appears when I start rekordbox ver. 6.

rekordbox ver. 6 communicates with the rekordboxAgent application running on the same computer.

Sometimes the communication between these applications is not working properly due to anti-virus software or VPN software.

Check to see if you can solve the problem by temporarily disabling your anti-virus or VPN software.

If your anti-virus software has the function to exclude certain applications from being blocked by the firewall, add rekordbox and rekordboxAgent to Exceptions.

If your VPN software has the function to bypass the VPN only for specific application communications, bypass the communication between rekordbox and rekordboxAgent.

For details, contact the manufacturer of your anti-virus software or VPN software.

I don’t know where to enter the license key that came with my DJ equipment.

The rekordbox dj license key that came with your DJ equipment is for rekordbox ver. 5 PERFORMANCE mode and not required for rekordbox ver. 6.0 or later.

From rekordbox ver. 6.0 or later, you can simply connect your DJ equipment to your PC/Mac to use PERFORMANCE mode, this system is called «Hardware Unlock».

My iTunes Library does not display.

To display your iTunes library on rekordbox, first double-click [iTunes] in the Tree view to open the groups, then select [All Audio]. For an iTunes playlist, open [Playlists] and select the playlist with which to display the library.

*Tracks are not displayed when only [iTunes] is selected.

The settings will vary depending on the computer being used.

In the latest version of rekordbox, no settings are required.

The iTunes Library may not be always created when using iTunes12.2 and later.

From iTunes, Preferences > Advanced, tick the box of “Share iTunes Library XML with other applications” to enable this function.

Then, please reboot both iTunes and rekordbox after shutting them down.

If the playlist folders are not properly shown, please update rekordbox to Ver. 3.2.2 or later to solve the issue.

The iTunes Library file may not be specified properly. To designate the proper iTunes Library xml file, go to [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Database] and select the xml file for the iTunes Library.

With rekordbox settings files transferred from a different computer, the iTunes Library file may be changed from iTunesMusicLibrary.xml to iTunesLibrary.xml.

If this is the case with your file, change the above setting to iTunesLibrary.xml.

When analyzing tracks, [Vocal] is grayed out and I can’t select it.

This might occur in the following cases.

• Free Plan or Core Plan users

You’ll need Creative Plan to use Vocal Position Detection and display.

• Your computer doesn’t meet the system requirements for rekordbox

Windows: To use Vocal Position Detection, you’ll need an AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) compatible CPU. Please check with your computer manufacturer to see if your computer’s CPU supports AVX.

I cannot record audio in PERFORMANCE mode.

In PERFORMANCE mode, you can record Master Out of rekordbox or input audio from Pioneer DJ products.（When you are to record input audio from equipment other than Pioneer DJ products, use recording function in EXPORT mode.）

Check the followings

In case no equipment is connected or equipment other than Pioneer DJ products is connected:

Check the following two settings.

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] and check if a computer built-in speaker is selected.

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode] and check if «Internal» is selected.

In case a Pioneer DJ product is connected:

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record]. Check if the channel of the connected Pioneer DJ product is selected correctly.

If you use DJM, DDJ-SZ, DDJ-RZ, DDJ-RZX as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] button to open the Setting Utility window. Select the [MIXER OUTPUT] tub and select mixer audio output for each channel.

• Check if the volume of recording is zero or not.

Adjust the volume by turning the level knob while checking the level meters.

• Check if the disk has enough space to save the recorded files.
• Check if destination of the recorded files is correctly selected.

Open [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] and check [Location of Files].

When using Cloud Library Sync, rekordbox responds slow.

If you’re synchronizing a lot of data using Cloud Library Sync, rekordbox may respond slow depending on your computer and network environment.
In this case, pausing sync may solve the issue.

— To pause sync

Right-click the Cloud Library Sync icon that appears in the system tray on Windows or in the menu bar on Mac and select [Pause sync].

Changes made in rekordbox library after you pause sync will not be synchronized to rekordbox on other devices until you restart sync.

— To restart sync

Right-click the Cloud Library Sync icon that appears in the system tray on Windows or in the menu bar on Mac and select [Start sync].

Even if you pause sync, synchronization will start when you relaunch Windows/Mac.

After updating the rekordbox to ver. 6, playlists which were being synchronized using the SYNC MANAGER were deleted from a device.

In case playlists are being configured to be synchronized with a device using the SYNC MANAGER, the setting for synchronization is reset if the rekordbox is updated to ver. 6.

Please configure the device again on the SYNC MANAGER after updating.

I cannot record audio in EXPORT mode.

In EXPORT mode, only audio input from external equipment can be recorded. (To record of Master Out of rekordbox, please use recording function in PERFORMANCE mode.)

Please check the followings:

• Is the version of rekordbox 4.2.1 or later?
• Is your computer connected to external equipment via a USB cable?
• Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] to check external equipment is selected from the menu.
• Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record] to check external equipment is selected correctly from the menu.

When using a DJM as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] to open the Setting Utility window. Select [MIXER OUTPUT] tab and select mixer audio output for each channel.

• Check if the volume of recording is zero or not?
  Adjust the volume by turning the level knob while checking the level meters.

• Check if the disk has enough space to save the recorded files.
• Check if destination of the recorded files is correctly selected.

I exported tracks of iTunes Playlist to USB/SD device using rekordbox ver. 5, then edited the track data (cues, beatgrid, ratings) on a DJ player. Can I use [Update Collection] of rekordbox ver. 6 to get the edited track data back to my collection?

You cannot use [Update Collection] of ver. 6 for the tracks exported using ver. 5 (iTunes Playlist).

Please perform [Update Collection] on ver. 5 before using them on ver. 6.

The sound of the recorded file is distorted.

The volume level of recording may be too high.

Turn the recording level knob. Adjust the recording level maximum to the level in which not all the meters hitting red.

The rekordbox [LINK] button does not show up when I connect my computer to the CDJ/XDJ with a LAN cable.

PRO DJ LINK works when rekordbox is in EXPORT mode. (It does not work in PERFORMANCE mode.)

1. Depending on the security software used on your computer and its operating system settings, it may not be possible to establish a PRO DJ LINK connection. If this occurs, it will be necessary to check your settings for the following four programs to ensure that they are not blocked:
   • rekordbox program file
   • ProDJ Link System Manager
   • ProDJ Link NFS Server
   • edb_streamd

check «Windows Firewall settings»

PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if your computer is connected to multiple networks as the networks (wired LAN, wireless, etc.) may interfere with each other. If this is the case with your computer, you can resolve the issue by disabling networks not used by PRO DJ LINK or set the network precedence properly to favor the network used.

PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if the Port used by rekordbox for PRO DJ LINK is being used by another application (NSF server, etc.). To resolve this issue, close the application or service being used and then try again.

PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if Internet Sharing is enabled. If this is the case, disable Internet Sharing and then try again.

When there is a router connected on the network used by PRO DJ LINK, the network may fail to be established properly depending on the order in which connected devices are powered on. Either first turn on the power to the router and then connect the device, or disconnect the router.

The “Copying music files” dialog appears every time when starting rekordbox. Is there any way to prevent this dialog from appearing?

If there are 50 or more missing files, the «Copying music files» dialog will appear when starting rekordbox.

You can prevent this with the following method.

• If the location of the music file has been changed, relocate the music file.

Select [Display All Missing Files] from the [File] menu.

In the [Missing File Manager] window, click the [Auto Relocate] or [Relocate] button.

For details, refer to this FAQ.

• If a music file has already been deleted, the missing file will be removed from the collection.

Select [Display All Missing Files] from the [File] menu.

In the [Missing File Manager] window, click the [Delete] button.

Exported SD memory cards or USB storage devices could not be recognized by DJ equipment, and tracks are not displayed.

Your device may be formatted in a file system that is not supported by the DJ equipment.

If the file system is exFAT, only these DJ equipment are available.

If you intend to use other DJ equipment, go here, and format to a file system other than exFAT for use.

The rekordbox CloudDirectPlay switch cannot be found in MY PAGE.

To use rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, first go to [Create library exclusively for] in [Preferences] in EXPORT mode and select [CDJ/XDJ(excluding XDJ-R1)] before using.

(EXPORT mode: [Preferences] > [DJ System] > [Device]tab > [Library])

*When [XDJ-R1] or [MEP-4000] is selected, rekordbox CloudDirectPlay cannot be used.

What DJ equipment can automatically select decks for lighting in PERFORMANCE mode?

Connect the DJ equipment and PC/Mac with a USB cable, and check [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode] (in PERFORMANCE mode).

• If your DJ equipment supports internal mixer mode, automatic deck selection is available when [Internal] is selected.
• If your DJ equipment supports external mixer mode, automatic deck selection is available only on the following models when [External] is selected.

The BeatGrid and CUE points shifted after changing the [Streaming Audio Quality] for SoundCloud or TIDAL.

When the [Streaming Audio Quality] is changed for [SoundCloud] or [TIDAL] accessed through [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Others], BeatGrid and CUE points may need to be reset due to the possibility of the BeatGrid and CUE points shifting when [Streaming Audio Quality] is changed.

Analyse the tracks.

Tips (How to analyze more than one SoundCloud Go+/DJ or TIDAL track at once)

1. 1. Select [Collection] and click the icon on the [Attribute] column header. The [SoundCloud] or [TIDAL] checkbox can be selected to display only the SoundCloud Go+/DJ or TIDAL tracks.
   2. With the tracks selected, select [Analyze Track] from the right-click menu to analyze the tracks.
   3. The BeatGrid and phrase positions can also be adjusted and changed manually.

For details, see «[GRID/PHRASE EDIT] panel» in the Instruction Manual.

• For CUE points such as Hot Cues and Memory Cues

Delete the CUE points before resetting them.

When [3Band] is selected in [Preferences] > [Waveform] > [Color], the [Full/Preview Waveform] radio buttons are grayed out and [Full Waveform] cannot be selected.

If [3Band] is selected, [Full/Preview Waveform] is fixed to [Half Waveform].

“Converting your library” message appears at an unintended time.

Sometimes “Converting your library” message appears at a time other than the first startup of rekordbox ver. 6.

In this case, be sure to select [Exit] and exit rekordbox.

If you select [Convert] or [Empty Library], you may not be able to restore your library.

If this dialog box appears every time you start rekordbox, or if your library has disappeared, please contact us from here.

Automatic separation of recording (to detect silence between tracks to automatically create a separate file for each one) doesn’t work correctly.

Adjust settings of automatic separation as follows:

1. Adjust volume level of recording on the REC panel.
   Turn the recording level knob. Adjust the recording level to the location not all the meters are hitting red.
   
2. Adjust the following settings in Preferences.

• • EXPORT mode

[Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Recordings] > [Recordings]

[Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings]

[Silence Level Threshold]

Move the slider to right to increase the threshold.

[When silence continues for]

Click the drop-down menu to decrease the length of silence.

• • If the file is separated beyond necessity:

[Silence Level Threshold]

Move the slider to left to decrease the threshold.

[When silence continues for]

Click the drop-down menu to increase the length of silence.

When I imported recorded files to iTunes, the Tag information I entered when recording was not reflected to iTunes.

The artist name, album title and track title information you entered when recording is written in the recorded file and in your rekordbox library but not in your iTunes library.

If you deactivate Plus Pack you once activated, then you can activate it in other computers.

Note: The same Pioneer DJ account is required for the two computers if you activate Plus Pack with one license.

My iTunes Library does not display.

The iTunes Library may not be always created when using iTunes12.2 and later.

From iTunes, Preferences > Advanced, tick the box of “Share iTunes Library XML with other applications” to enable this function. (Mac: [iTunes] > [Preferences])

Then, please reboot both iTunes and rekordbox after shutting them down.

If the playlist folders are not properly shown, please update rekordbox to Ver. 3.2.2 or later to solve the issue.

The iTunes Library file may not be specified properly. To designate the proper iTunes Library xml file, go to [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Database] and select the xml file for the iTunes Library.

With rekordbox settings files transferred from a different computer, the iTunes Library file may be changed from iTunesMusicLibrary.xml to iTunesLibrary.xml.

If this is the case with your file, change the above setting to iTunesLibrary.xml.

I cannot hear the sound.

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] to check whether your audio device is selected.

In the PERFORMANCE mode, check the following settings.

• [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode]
• [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Output channels]

See if these settings are set as you wish.

I cannot use XDJ-RX with rekordbox dj.

• If you want to use XDJ-RX with rekordbox dj, you need to update the firmware version to 2.10 or later.

• When the XDJ-RX is connected to rekordbox, you have to set the [MIXER MODE] to [MIDI CONTROL] on the [UTILITY] screen.

I cannot record audio in PERFORMANCE mode.

In PERFORMANCE mode, you can record Master Out of rekordbox or input audio from Pioneer DJ products.（When you are to record input audio from equipment other than Pioneer DJ products, use recording function in EXPORT mode.）

Check the followings

In case no equipment is connected or equipment other than Pioneer DJ products is connected:

Check the following two settings.

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] and check if a computer built-in speaker is selected.

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode] and check if «Internal» is selected.

In case a Pioneer DJ product is connected:

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record]. Check if the channel of the connected Pioneer DJ product is selected correctly.

If you use DJM, DDJ-SZ, DDJ-RZ, DDJ-RZX as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] button to open the Setting Utility window. Select the [MIXER OUTPUT] tub and select mixer audio output for each channel.

• Check if the volume of recording is zero or not.

Adjust the volume by turning the level knob while checking the level meters.

• Check if the disk has enough space to save the recorded files.
• Check if destination of the recorded files is correctly selected.

Open [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] and check [Location of Files].

When using PC MASTER OUT, the volume does not change even if you turn the MASTER LEVEL knob on the controller.

Please adjust the volume of the computer built-in speaker at the computer’s volume setting.

Audio of rekordbox dj Deck 2 is coming from the channel 1 of the XDJ-RX.

When the XDJ-RX is connected to rekordbox, you have to set the [MIXER MODE] to [MIDI CONTROL] on the [UTILITY] screen.

I cannot record audio in EXPORT mode.

In EXPORT mode, only audio input from external equipment can be recorded. (To record of Master Out of rekordbox, please use recording function in PERFORMANCE mode.)

Please check the followings:

• Is the version of rekordbox 4.2.1 or later?
• Is your computer connected to external equipment via a USB cable?
• Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] to check external equipment is selected from the menu.
• Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record] to check external equipment is selected correctly from the menu.

When using a DJM as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] to open the Setting Utility window. Select [MIXER OUTPUT] tab and select mixer audio output for each channel.

• Check if the volume of recording is zero or not?
  Adjust the volume by turning the level knob while checking the level meters.

• Check if the disk has enough space to save the recorded files.
• Check if destination of the recorded files is correctly selected.
  Open [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] and check [Location of Files].

The sound of the recorded file is distorted.

The volume level of recording may be too high.

Turn the recording level knob. Adjust the recording level maximum to the level in which not all the meters hitting red.

rekordbox closes soon after the application is launched.

If you use Windows as the operating system, there might be a problem with its driver for display adapter.

Check if your driver software is the latest version.

Example of how you check and update the driver software

1. Click the Start button and [Control Panel] to open [Device Manager].
2. Click the [>] button to the left of [display Adapter].
3. Right-click the name of the display adapter you use (e.g. Intel(R) HD Graphics) and click [Update driver software] in the menu.
4. Click [Automatically detect the latest version of driver software].

The rekordbox [LINK] button does not show up when I connect my computer to the CDJ/XDJ with a LAN cable.

PRO DJ LINK works when rekordbox is in EXPORT mode. (It does not work in PERFORMANCE mode.)

1. Depending on the security software used on your computer and its operating system settings, it may not be possible to establish a PRO DJ LINK connection. If this occurs, it will be necessary to check your settings for the following four programs to ensure that they are not blocked:
   • rekordbox program file
   • ProDJ Link System Manager
   • ProDJ Link NFS Server
   • edb_streamd

check «Windows Firewall settings»

PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if your computer is connected to multiple networks as the networks (wired LAN, wireless, etc.) may interfere with each other. If this is the case with your computer, you can resolve the issue by disabling networks not used by PRO DJ LINK or set the network precedence properly to favor the network used.

PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if the Port used by rekordbox for PRO DJ LINK is being used by another application (NSF server, etc.). To resolve this issue, close the application or service being used and then try again.

PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if Internet Sharing is enabled. If this is the case, disable Internet Sharing and then try again.

When there is a router connected on the network used by PRO DJ LINK, the network may fail to be established properly depending on the order in which connected devices are powered on. Either first turn on the power to the router and then connect the device, or disconnect the router.

rekordbox video works slowly. What should I do?

First, check System Requirements for rekordbox video.

Then, check the followings:

• Close other applications than rekordbox.
• If your computer limits the CPU due to power saving option, please cancel the power saving option.
• Open [Preferences] > [Video] > [Video Quality] and select [Low].

The resolution of video will become lower and rekordbox video will work better.

• For DDJ-RZX users, open [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Others] > [Touch Display] and untick the checkbox of [Display video on the touch screen when pressing the VIEW button].

Video will not be shown on the DDJ-RZX display and rekordbox video will work better.

If the video will not be shown on both decks of the DDJ-RZX even when you tick the checkbox of [Display video on the touch screen when pressing the VIEW button] in [Touch Display], please select EXPORT mode and then PERFORMANCE mode again. Or, please disconnect the DDJ-RZX and connect it again.

I cannot turn on the video function at [Preferences] > [Video].

When you select [Low Speed] at [Preferences] > [View] > [Waveform] > [Waveform Drawing Rate], the video function will be disabled and [Enable Video Function] will be grayed out at [Preferences] > [View].

If [Low Speed] is selected at [View] > [Waveform] > [Waveform Drawing Rate],

[Enable Video Function] at [Preferences] > [View] is grayed out.

Follow the steps below to enable the video function.

1. Open [Preferences] > [View] > [Waveform] > [Waveform Drawing Rate] and select [High Speed] or [Medium Speed].
2. Open [Preferences] > [Video] and tick [Enable Video Function].
3. Relaunch rekordbox.
4. You can use the video function now.

(Windows only) While installing or updating the Audio Driver, “Error opening file for writing” popped up.

If “Error opening file for writing” popped up while installing or updating the Audio Driver,

close rekordbox, then click the [Retry] button to carry out the installation.

rekordbox froze when I canceled DJM-250MK2 firmware update. (No audio output when I canceled DJM-250MK2 firmware update.)

Click [Cancel] or [Close] on Updater Program launched from rekordbox.

Then the DJM-250MK2 returns to update mode*.

* MASTER LEVEL METER of the DJM-250MK2 blinks.

You can solve the issue by launching the DJM-250MK2 in normal mode.

1. 1. Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] and click [Task Manager].
   2. Click [Processes] tub in Task Manager.
   3. Window10 and 8.1: Click «rekordbox program file» and [End task].
      rekordbox closes.

For Mac

1. 1. Press [command]+[option]+[esc] and click «rekordbox» in «Force Quit Applications» window.
   2. Click [Force Quit].
   3. [«Do you want to force «rekordbox» to quit?] message appears. Click [Force Quit].
      rekordbox closes.
   4. Click [X] button in «Force Quit Applications» window to close it.

• Turn off the power of the DJM-250MK2, then turn it on again.
• Launch rekordbox.

Enlarged waveforms move at a different speed in each deck.

Follow the steps below to match the speed of the enlarged waveform to the tempo.

• Open [Preferences] > [DVS] tab and tick [The beat position intervals of the enlarged waveform are changed.]
  

When using rekordbox ver. 5.0.1 or lower.

When DVS is enabled, the speed of an enlarged waveform is corresponded to the BPM of its track.

*DVS is enabled when [INT]/[REL]/[ABS] icon in a red frame below is shown.

If you do not use DVS, follow the steps below to disable DVS.

• Open [Preferences] > [DVS] tab and untick [Enable DVS function].

A track in the iTunes track list has a mark with a diagonal line on it and cannot be played.

The track’s file is not stored on your computer and cannot be played on rekordbox.

Either the track was not downloaded following purchase, or it is stored to the cloud.

Download the track’s file on iTunes, and then restart rekordbox.

Tracks located in iTunes do not appear in rekordbox.

It may not be possible to play these tracks on rekordbox.

The tracks may be copyright protected tracks (.m4p format) obtained from a service such as the iTunes Store or Apple Music, or they may be in a file format not supported by rekordbox.

*Only tracks that can be played on rekordbox are shown.

For example, even if there are 100 tracks on iTunes, if only 50 of them can be played on rekordbox, only those 50 tracks will be shown.

Audio skips or drops out when using BEAT FX on DDJ-1000.

We identified an issue causing audio to skip or drop out when Beat FX are applied to some channels such as Mic and Master.

Please update the DDJ-1000 firmware to ver. 1.05 or later and rekordbox to ver. 5.3.0 or later.

When using rekordbox on Windows, some playback such as YouTube works incorrectly.

Open [Control Panel] > [Hardware and Sound] > [Sound].

Sometimes normal playback disabled when the coneccted DJ equipment is selected as Default Device.

In this case, select Speakers, etc. as Default Device.

Please follow the steps below.

1. Close rekordbox.
2. Open [Control Panel] > [Hardware and Sound] > [Sound].
3. Click the [Playback] tab in the [Sounds] panel to check what is selected as Default Device with a green check mark.
   
4. Click a built-in device in your computer other than the connected DJ equipment and click [Set Default].
   
   The selected device is now the Default Device and the green tick icon is displayed on it.
   
5. Close the Sound dialog box and the Control Panel window.
6. Relaunch rekordbox.

When PC MASTER OUT is set to ON, track playback stops frequently, and rekordbox does not operate smoothly.

The cause of the issue may be the Windows internal sound device settings.

When I control rekordbox dj using CDJs, enlarged waveforms, Hot Cue points and Quantize Beat Value are not displayed.

Only the following CDJs support such features. (Firmware update required)

• CDJ-2000NXS2 (ver. 1.4.0 or later)
• CDJ-TOUR1 (ver. 1.1.0 or later)

Automatic separation of recording (to detect silence between tracks to automatically create a separate file for each one) doesn’t work correctly.

Adjust settings of automatic separation as follows:

1. Adjust volume level of recording on the REC panel.
   Turn the recording level knob. Adjust the recording level to the location not all the meters are hitting red.
   
2. Adjust the following settings in Preferences.

• • EXPORT mode

[Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Recordings] > [Recordings]

[Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings]

[Silence Level Threshold]

Move the slider to right to increase the threshold.

[When silence continues for]

Click the drop-down menu to decrease the length of silence.

• • If the file is separated beyond necessity:

[Silence Level Threshold]

Move the slider to left to decrease the threshold.

[When silence continues for]

Click the drop-down menu to increase the length of silence.

When I imported recorded files to iTunes, the Tag information I entered when recording was not reflected to iTunes.

The artist name, album title and track title information you entered when recording is written in the recorded file and in your rekordbox library but not in your iTunes library.

I cannot use PERFORMANCE mode even though I started rekordbox dj trial.

Please restart rekordbox. If the issue persists, please restart your computer, and try again.

Suddenly rekordbox dj stopped working even though I activate it with my license key.

The license may become invalid if you make changes to the startup disk of your computer.

• Creating / Deleting partitions.
• Changing / Repairing / Replacing your startup disk.
• Restoring system or user data from a backup drive such as Time Machine.

If you need to make changes to your startup disk, please deactivate your license first, then activate it again after making changes.

Track is playing at high speed. I cannot hear the sound.

Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] to check whether your audio device is selected.

If the device you use is set, please reset the device. (i.e., select different audio device and then reset the audio device you use again.)

I am using DJM-2000NXS for audio device but no information is displayed at the input channel and I cannot record.

When inputting audio from DJM-2000NXS, the following setting is required.

1. Input/output setting for DJM-2000NXS
2. For Mac, creation of Audio MIDI Aggregate Device

Please switch the setting as follows when DJM-2000NXS is connected to your computer with the USB cable.

1.Input/output setting for DJM-2000NXS (Win/Mac)

Step1. Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] and confirm the setting is as follows:

For Windows: [PIONEER DJM-2000 ASIO]
For Mac: [DJM-2000 output]

Step2. Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] and click [Setting Utility]

Step3. Switch [Input/Output] at [DJM-2000 Setting Utility] depending on your computer’s operating system (OS) as follows:

For Windows: ASIO 3 outputs 1 input 16 bits DirectX 1 output 1 input
For Mac: 6-channel output 2-channel input 16 bits
Note: When the input/output setting is switched as described above, CH4 of DJM-2000NXS cannot be used for output.

2.Creation of Audio MIDI Aggregate Device (For Mac)

Step1. From the Finder, open [Application] > [Utility] and click [Audio MIDI Setting].

Step2. Click the [+] button at the left bottom in the [Audio Devices] window and select [Create Aggregate Device].

Step3. Tick the checkbox of [DJM-2000] and [DJM-2000 output].

Step4. Change the name from [Aggregate Device] to [DJM-2000_input/output]. Enter the name exactly as is.(Caution: the device will not work if the name is entered differently).

Step5. Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] and select [DJM-2000_input/output].

An error about MFReadWrite.dll being missing is displayed and rekorbox does not start up.

The “N” and «KN» versions of Windows do not include Windows Media Player and related technologies, each of which is multimedia software that rekordbox 3.0 needs to run with.

Synchronization with a device persistently continues and the spinning busy cursor appears.

Depending on the number of playlists to be synchronized and the tracks included in them, the amount of time that rekordbox requires to complete the synchronization process may be different.

If you have many playlists and tracks, a computer may display the busy cursor depending on the computer spec.

Please try reducing the number of playlists and tracks in a sync process.

I cannot play back audio tracks from rekordbox on the DJ player via a link connection.

PRO DJ LINK works when rekordbox is in EXPORT mode. (It does not work in PERFORMANCE mode.)

1. If the [UNLOCK/LOCK] option on the DJ Player is set to [LOCK], you will not be able to load tracks to the DJ Player while a song is playing (for the CDJ-2000 only). You will also not be able to drag tracks if you load them at the same exact time as a Cue is being called up on the DJ Player.
2. Depending on the security software used on your computer and its operating system settings, it may not be possible to establish a PRO DJ LINK connection. If this occurs, it will be necessary to check your settings for the following four programs to ensure that they are not blocked:
   • rekordbox program file
   • ProDJ Link System Manager
   • ProDJ Link NFS Server
   • edb_streamd

For Mac OS X, note that music files with long file paths cannot be played back using PRO DJ LINK. Make sure to save music files to a save location with a file path no longer than 256 characters.

Music files transferred from Windows XP to Windows Vista/7/8 and saved to My Music may become unable to be played back using PRO DJ LINK. If this appears to be the case with your files, rename the folder where the music files are saved and then use Relocate to reassign the location once the «Media is Missing» message pops up to reset it.

Note that [Device] song tracks cannot be loaded onto the CDJ using PRO DJ LINK. To play such song tracks, connect the device directly to the DJ Player instead.

Why Rekordbox Can’t Read USB Drives

Rekordbox is a DJ application that integrates cloud music management and DJ performance. When people use Rekordbox to export music, USB and SD cards are commonly used devices. But sometimes, Rekordbox may not read USB drives. The possible reasons are as follows:

Scene 1: The USB Drive Cannot Be Detected by the PC

Can your PC detect the USB drive? If the PC doesn’t display the USB drive, the USB drive cannot be used by any software, including Rekordbox.

Many reasons may cause the computer to fail to detect your USB drive, such as missing/outdated/corrupted driver, improper partition methods, drive damage, etc. If the USB drive is not showing up on the PC, you should fix this problem first.

Scene 2: Rekordbox Is Not In Export Mode

Rekordbox has four main modes, PERFORMANCE mode, EXPORT mode, EDIT mode, and LIGHTING mode.

• PERFORMANCE: This mode lets you play songs with the connected DJ device.
• EDIT: This mode allows you to make DJ edits/re-edits directly in the software.
• LIGHTING: This mode allows you to assign lighting fixtures and edit lighting scenes.
• EXPORT: Among these four modes, only this mode allows you to export music to a USB drive or SD card. If Rekordbox is not in Export mode, it cannot read any external devices.

Scene 3: The USB Drive Is Not In Compatible Formats

Only FAT16, FAT32, and HFS+ file systems are supported by Rekordbox. If the USB you connect to the computer is a FAT, FAT32, or HFS+ drive, it will appear under the «Device» tab, and you can directly drag and drop your files from your collection to the device there. But if it is in other formats, such as NTFS/exFAT, etc., the software will fail to detect the device.

HFS+ is only available for Mac. If you are using a Windows PC, FAT32 is recommended because a FAT32 partition can be up to 32GB while a FAT16 partition can’t exceed.

Note: Generally, when SD cards and USB flash drives are smaller than 32GB, they are pre-formatted to FAT32 by manufacturers. When they exceed 32GB, they are generally pre-formatted to exFAT. Only when the user reformats it, will it become another file system.

How to Fix Rekordbox Not Reading USB Drive

The above are three situations where Rekordbox can’t read USB. If you have encountered the same trouble, try the following methods to solve it.

Method 1 – Fix USB Drive Not Showing Up

Firstly, after making sure your USB is plugged into your PC properly, you should press “Windows + E” to open the File Explorer and check whether the external drive appears.

If the USB drive is not showing up, your next step is to open Disk Management and check whether there are some issues with the USB drive.

• Press “Win+R” to open the Run dialog.
• Type “diskmgmt.msc” into the Run box and press “Enter” to open Disk Management.
• Check whether there are some issues with the USB drive, such as raw file system, no drive letter, etc.

Method 2 – Set Rekordbox to Export Mode

Open your Rekordbox, and you can easily change the mode in the top left corner of Rekordbox. Expand the mode menu following the Rekordbox icon, and then select the export mode. After switching to export mode, look for a «Device» big button at the bottom left of the screen and click it. Then, you can find your USB drive.

Method 3 – Format USB Drive to FAT32

Windows built-in tools like File Explorer, CMD, and Disk Management can help you perform simple disk management. They can format a USB or SD Card up to 32GB to the FAT32 file system.

How do you format a USB to FAT32 with File Explorer? Follow the guidance below:

• Connect the USB to the PC.
• Open the «File Explorer«, find and right-click the USB, select «Format«.
• Custom file system to FAT32, and then click «Start» to begin formatting.

Windows built-in tools can format a USB drive up to 32GB to FAT32, but for USB drives larger than 32GB, third-party software, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard, is needed to complete the formation.

HFS+ is only available for Mac. If you are using a Windows PC, FAT32 is recommended because a FAT32 partition can be up to 32GB while a FAT16 partition can’t exceed.

Note: Generally, when SD cards and USB flash drives are smaller than 32GB, they are pre-formatted to FAT32 by manufacturers. When they exceed 32GB, they are generally pre-formatted to exFAT. Only when the user reformats it, will it become another file system.

How to Fix Rekordbox Not Reading USB Drive

The above are three situations where Rekordbox can’t read USB. If you have encountered the same trouble, try the following methods to solve it.

Method 1 – Fix USB Drive Not Showing Up

Firstly, after making sure your USB is plugged into your PC properly, you should press “Windows + E” to open the File Explorer and check whether the external drive appears.

If the USB drive is not showing up, your next step is to open Disk Management and check whether there are some issues with the USB drive.

• Press “Win+R” to open the Run dialog.
• Type “diskmgmt.msc” into the Run box and press “Enter” to open Disk Management.
• Check whether there are some issues with the USB drive, such as raw file system, no drive letter, etc.

Method 2 – Set Rekordbox to Export Mode

Open your Rekordbox, and you can easily change the mode in the top left corner of Rekordbox. Expand the mode menu following the Rekordbox icon, and then select the export mode. After switching to export mode, look for a «Device» big button at the bottom left of the screen and click it. Then, you can find your USB drive.

Method 3 – Format USB Drive to FAT32

Windows built-in tools like File Explorer, CMD, and Disk Management can help you perform simple disk management. They can format a USB or SD Card up to 32GB to the FAT32 file system.

How do you format a USB to FAT32 with File Explorer? Follow the guidance below:

• Connect the USB to the PC.
• Open the «File Explorer«, find and right-click the USB, select «Format«.
• Custom file system to FAT32, and then click «Start» to begin formatting.

Windows built-in tools can format a USB drive up to 32GB to FAT32, but for USB drives larger than 32GB, third-party software, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard, is needed to complete the formation.

MiniTool Partition Wizard supports formatting partitions up to 2TB to the FAT32 file system. If your USB drive is larger than 32GB, or the Windows built-in tools fail to format the drive, Partition Wizard is recommended.

С каждым годом софт Rekordbox DJ становится все популярнее, но почему-то не становится лучше, а наоборот – чем сильнее детище лидера рынка захватывает рынок, тем хуже оно становится. Рассказываем, почему Rekordbox DJ плохая программа, и вам ни в коем случае не нужно ей пользоваться.

1. Работает только с оборудованием Pioneer DJ.

Честно сказать, дальше этого пункта статью можно даже не читать. Понятно, что Pioneer DJ является лидером рынка, но «свет клином на нем не сошёлся». На рынке присутствует огромное количество интереснейших девайсов, которые за свою жизнь обязательно надо попробовать. Allen&Heath делает микшерные пульты с крутейшим качеством звука, а Rane часто выпускает что-то специфичное, например Rane Twelve. В некоторых заведениях уже можно встретить проигрыватели от Denon DJ. Перечислять можно долго.

Как можно назвать профессиональной программу, которая загоняет тебя в жёсткие рамки? Работая на Rekordbox, жизнь будет скучна и однообразна.

Конечно, если ты просто «оператор диджейской установки», не интересуешься новинками и технологиями, то тебе хватит Рекордбокса за глаза, но я сомневаюсь, что такие люди читали бы данную статью.

2. Работает только по подписке.

Возможность получить полную версию программы за 10-20$ в месяц – несомненно крутое предложение, но это должен быть лишь один из вариантов оплаты. У людей всегда должен быть выбор, а тут его точно нет.

Serato DJ Pro и Traktor Pro дают вам возможность как использовать софт по подписке, так и приобретать полную версию «навсегда». И поверьте, профессионалам проще за 1 раз вывалить 10-20-30 тысяч рублей, а потом до конца жизни наслаждаться программой без лишнего геморроя с оплатами. И речь не только об экономической выгоде, а о стабильности и безопасности – кто купил софт навсегда пару лет назад, сейчас (в условиях санкций) не ищет «возможности оплаты».

3. Слишком молодой софт.

Когда вышла программа Serato, я еще пешком под стол ходил, а когда у Rekordbox появилась версия DJ, я уже пилил свой первый контент на YouTube. Разница очевидна. Да, Rekordbox развивается семи-мильными шагами, благодаря своему «богатому покровителю», но делает он это слишком не качественно. Куда не глянь, либо функция не доделана, либо глючит.

Например, весь реал-диджеинг мир фанател от функции BeatJump в Serato DJ Pro. Разработчики Rekordbox DJ взяли и впопыхах скопировали данную функцию, вот только не до конца разобрались как она должна работать. В Синей программе при помощи данной функции можно «выпрыгивать» за пределы трека, что играет ключевую функцию. В чёрной же программе этого сделать как нельзя было, так и нельзя. И это лишь самый простой пример.

4. Перегруженная программа.

Когда заходишь в программу, создаётся ощущение, что разработчики прям очень далеки от мира диджеинга. Возможно причина – это предыдущий пункт, но не факт. В Rekordbox DJ слишком много лишнего. Расшифровка текста на лету, управление светом, секвенсер и еще охапка ненужного функционала, которая круто работает только в промо-роликах. В жизни же, если у тебя 1-2 головы (световой прибор), то тебе никакой софт не нужен, проще на автоматический режим поставить, а для парка из 30-40 приборов нужен отдельный световой софт, все равно не управитесь с ними. Отсюда и непонимание, зачем все это нужно – просто «чтобы было»?

Вы конечно-же скажете «ну есть оно и есть, в настройках же можно выключить». А вот ответ на это в следующем пункте.

5. Жрет очень много ресурсов.

Любой пользователь скажет вам, что Rekordbox самая требовательная программа для работы. Даже если в настройках отключить все дополнения по типу управления светом, компьютер все равно будет грузиться, ведь убиранием галочки в настройках вы не выдергиваете «кусок кода» из программы, а просто скрываете интерфейс из виду – под капотом он остаётся.

И тут уже начинается разговор о том, что просто на домашнем компьютере с данной программой работать сложновато, приходится тратиться на что-то мощное.

В этот же пункт добавим, что Rekordbox сильно загрязняет ваш компьютер. Детище лидера рынка генерирует слишком много файлов по всей системе – вычистить все это потом практически невозможно. Уже писали об этом в материале ниже.

Почему у Rekordbox так много поклонников?

Все очень просто – полную версию программы кладут в комплект к самому дешёвому оборудованию Pioneer DJ. Более того, выходили удешевлённые версии актуальных контроллеров, которые могли работать только с собственной программой. Например, на рынке были девайсы SB, SR, SX, SZ – работали со всем актуальным ПО. Лидер рынка брал и выпускал RB, RR, RX – точно такие же устройства «один в один» , но работают они только с Rekordbox DJ. Новички в диджеинге приходили в Магазин и видели два полностью одинаковых устройства, только одно на условные 10 тысяч рублей дешевле. В чем разница? Один работает с одной программой, другой с несколькими. Хм, ну зачем мне несколько, если одна уже в комплекте. Именно благодаря этому, половина России ходила с RB’шками. Ребята купили контроллер за +-15 тысяч рублей, а в комплекте еще и ключ на профессиональный софт шёл – бомба!

Шло время, эти ребята занимались диджеингом 2-3 года и естественно за это время привыкали к программе, с которой начали. Когда пришло время обновляться – сразу брали что-то под Rekordbox DJ, потому что вся музыкальная база, настройки и прочее уже подготовлено к работе именно там.

Реальная проблема – бесплатность.

Реальная проблема в том, что огромное количество людей, да почти все пользователи, получили эту программу бесплатно. Они начали с неё, потому что нашли ключ в комплекте. Зачем платить за другую программу 300$, если тебе уже дали аналог бесплатно? Ну а дальше ты привыкаешь и вот уже спустя 3 года затираешь на форуме, что это лучший софт в мире.

Раньше было по другому. Старые контроллеры DDJ-ERGO, DDJ-WEGO, DDJ-SB выходили с пробной версией программы в комплекте, что априори вынуждало тебя через какое-то время покупать за полную стоимость лицензию на тот или иной софт. И из-за этого люди реально выбирали, сравнивали, активировали триальные режимы, чтобы понять какая программа меньше грузит компьютер, какая стабильнее и так далее.

Сами подумайте. Вот вы получили права, выходите из автошколы и тут вам говорят – либо можешь купить себе машину сам, либо вот тебе «Хендай» бесплатно. Естественно вы возьмёте за бесплатно «Хендай», а когда он сломается, опять купите себе «Хендай», потому что привыкли. Тут такая же тема!

И это тоже небольшой пунктик, почему я не очень хорошо отношусь к данной программе. Она играет по слишком жёстким правилам, ломает рынок.

А что тогда делать?

Я не заставляю вас отказываться от программы, но прошу научиться сравнивать. Я общаюсь с огромным количеством диджеем и знаю, что 90% людей, использующих Rekordbox DJ и утверждающих, что это лучшая программа в мире, на деле никогда в жизни не пробовали ничего другого. Да и даже если пробовали – это было просто “вскользь, на компьютере друга”. Когда-то давно им дали Rekordbox бесплатно или они выбрали его по причине “мой контроллер под эту программу, поэтому ее и качаю” и все.

Изучите разные программы, отыграйте полноценный сет на Тракторе, Серато, да даже на Виртуал Диджее! Сделайте выбор самостоятельно, а не ведитесь на поводу производителя. Это важно.
