I Receive An Error When I Try To Update Elementor Pro

This guide lists some of the specific errors you may receive when trying to update the Elementor plugin.
I Receive This Error – “Update: Could Not Copy File”
This occurs generally when you work with Elementor Pro from a localhost and/or with any Windows Server.
- You can install a plugin to solve this issue (which is an incompatibility issue between Easy Digital Downloads, Windows and WordPress).
- If this did not help, ask your hosting company to verify your permission settings.
- If nothing helped, you can download Elementor Pro via your My Elementor dashboard. Click on the download icon (
) at the top of the screen. Once the file downloaded, go to your WordPress dashboard, delete Elementor Pro, then in Plugins, click on “Add New” and upload the file of the new version downloaded from elementor.com.
I Receive This Error – “Update Failed: Download failed. Unauthorized”
In order to be able to update your plugin, you need to have an active license.
Please deactivate and reactivate the license following these steps:
- First, log to your My Elementor dashboard.
- Go to the Subscriptions tab.
- Next to the website in question, click on Deactivate Site
Once you have done the steps above, please follow these steps:
- Go to your website’s WordPress dashboard > Elementor > License
- Click on the Disconnect button (if there is one) and afterward, click on the Connect & Activate button and attempt to update the plugin again.
Does the issue persist?
If the issue persists, then this may be related to a permissions error. In this case, delete the current plugin and upload the newest version of the plugin via FTP, as explained here, in the section labeled, “I receive an error message when I try to update Elementor Pro”.

В Марте 2023 года была обнаружена уязвимость, которая затрагивает версию 3.11.6, а также предшествующие. Авторизированные пользователи могут перехватывать контроль над ресурсом и изменять его настройки.
Работает уязвимость через AJAX action pro_woocommerce_update_page_option, где отсутствует проверка возможностей и недостаточно хорошо реализована проверка ввода данных.
«Авторизированные злоумышленник может использовать уязвимость для создания учетной записи администратора, включив регистрацию и сделав ролью по умолчанию administrator, может изменить адрес электронной почты администратора или изменить siteurl, перенаправив весь трафик на удаленный вредоносный сайт»
По мнению экспертов – бэкдор называется wp-resortpark.zip, wp-rate.php или lll.zip. Большинство атак, нацеленных на уязвимые сайты, исходят с трех IP-адресов: 193.169.194.63, 193.169.195.64 и 194.135.30.6.
За небольшими подробностями собщается, что образец архива lll.zip содержит PHP-скрипт, позволяющий удаленному злоумышленнику загружать дополнительные файлы на скомпрометированный сервер.
Бэкдор позволит получить полный доступ к сайту на WordPress, например, для кражи данных или установки дополнительной malware.
Скорее обновите плагин до версии 3.11.7 или выше! Все предыдущие версии – имеют уязвимость!

About the Error#
While trying to update the PowerPack Elementor plugin, you may receive an Update Failed error message as mentioned in the below screenshot.
Update Failed: Download failed. Unauthorized.Likely Cause for the Update Failed Error#
- The domain (or site URL) from which you are trying to update the plugin is not attached to the license. This can happen, for instance, if you install your plugin to a staging site and then push the site to production while using the same license. In this case, the license status may show «Activated», but in reality, it is deactivated.
- WordPress website is running old versions of OpenSSL or cURL. In such cases, PowerPack Elementor can’t communicate securely and the update fails.
Fix for the Issue#
In order to fix the issue, please follow the below-mentioned steps:
Method 1: Preliminary Steps#
- Deactivate and reactivate the license key from WordPress Dashboard > Elementor > PowerPack > General.
If you are unable to deactivate the license, then:- Remove the license key and Save Settings.
- Re-add the license key and then, try to activate it.
- If the above step does not resolve the issue, please have a chat with your web admin about updating the version of either OpenSSL or cURL.
Method 2: Manually Update the Plugin#
To manually update the PowerPack Elementor plugin, please follow the following steps:
- Download the latest version of the plugin from https://powerpackelements.com/my-account/
- Deactivate and delete the existing installation of PowerPack from the site. This step will not affect the content created using PowerPack or any existing settings of Powerpack.
- Go to Plugins > Add New and Upload the zip file downloaded in Step 1.
- Once uploaded activate the plugin.
